Experimenting with it was enjoyable nonetheless. The included grip cover and foot pedal were thoughtful extras, though the power cord occasionally felt a bit unwieldy. If you're willing to be patient and learn as you go, this kit serves as a helpful choice for beginners, though it might not satisfy the requirements of more seasoned tattoo artists.

I set up the rotary pen with a 7RL (round liner) cartridge needle and connected it to the power supply. After applying a stencil to the practice skin, I adjusted the voltage to around 6 volts for lining. The pen felt comfortable in my hand, and the vibrations were minimal. I practiced tracing the stencil, focusing on consistent line weight and smooth movements. The pen responded well to changes in pressure and speed, allowing for good control.Next, I switched to a 9Mag cartridge needle and increased the voltage to around 8 volts for shading. I practiced creating gradients and filling in larger areas on the practice skin. The pen handled the larger needle configuration effectively, providing even ink distribution.

I'd like to use a tattoo gun for decorating leather so got this. I've tried it with the black in and one needle, and it was easy enough to set-up. It doesn't feel like it would stand up to continued heavy use, but for a hobby, or to get going like I am, it seems perfect.

This is a great set for beginners to practice with as it is very well priced at £39.99 and the set includes pretty much everything you need to get started. It includes two practice skins but it would be advisable to have more. It is really easy to setup and it doesn’t take too long to get used to as it is quite straightforward to use. I am just an amateur artist/crafter so I am always looking to explore different tools and skills. I can’t comment on how effective this is for tattooing on skin but like I said initially it is a good way to start practicing and using it to see if you can produce art.
