On Sundazed This is Just Amasing I wish It was Avalable !!!!
When this came out on Record it was a free disc that came with the WOW Record It was more just goofing around that the band did with Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper. It was fun to listen to but a bit lacking of being real music becouse it was as it said a Jam.But On the Sundazed reliese it just comes to life with Awsome remastered sound and Great Bonus Tracks. If your a Jam band Fan or a fan of Moby Grape This is a Must Have CD !! Buy the Sundazed Version I paid 40 Bucks used and I just sat and smiled while Jamming to it Worth Every Penny. This CD like WOW and Moby Grape were pulled right after Being Reliesed.Find It and Buy It while you can.

I bought this record when it came out with WOW on sale for two dollars.Didn't listen to it to much because I had the first Moby Grape album and Moby Grape 69.But when I saw this extended CD I had to buy it.It's a very interesting part of Moby Grape history ( and Al Kooper/Mike Bloomfield history) I enjoy it when I'm driving in my car.One reviewer said he used to play guitar while listening to it I can see that.Wonder what happened to the other 19 hours of tape.

This is a jam, not an arranged CD
Whether in rock or in jazz, a jam is a session where a group of musicians get together to play for their own amusement, rather than for the audience. Normally, it's "okay, this is the progression we're going to improvise on" or "let's do a major blues in C" or "how about a minor blues in a". Then, everyone takes solos as they agree to, and everyone else supports the soloist. With that in mind, this is not a bad album at all. Yeah, it lacks discipline, but that's what a jam is. The most successful of the original jams were the ones with Al Kooper. For some reason, Kooper always works well in an improvised context. The jam with Bloomfield has moments, but it goes on for way too long, and becomes rather repetitive. Still, this was the very first recorded examples of a group of rock musicians just jamming, and for that reason, it's important. The music is decent, though, and well worth listening to. Not worth 5 stars, but at least worth 4.

The Great Moby Grape on an average day.
I remember listening to this years ago when the original double album was released and thinking then that it was too much. I have it again now on CD and with extra tracks it really is too much. Still a must have for the serious Moby Grape fan.

WOW! What More Could Anyone Want From Moby Grape?
I'm not the biggest Moby Grape fan in the world -- mostly because they were a band that always showed much more promise than actual results in the records they delivered. By all accounts, they were an awe-inspiring outfit on stage, but for reasons beyond my comprehension, their producer and their record label never saw fit to try and capture their live act for posterity. For a lot of decades, listening to their work, there's always this aura of "what might have been" hanging over many of their sides. (And it's not like I wasn't a fan -- hell, I was one of those responsible for doing the very first CD reissue of Skip Spence's solo album OAR, back in 1990 for Sony Music Special Products, which also included outtakes, though not as many as were later unearthed -- I even tried to contact the elusive Mr. Spence to talk to him, to no avail).I missed out on the Sundazed CD issue of GRAPE JAM when it suddenly showed up in 2007 -- I got the others, which were fine, and I knew they weren't going to be available for long, owing to the extensive history of litigation surrounding their recordings. In 2021, with the stimulus payment fresh in my bank account, I finally capitulated and bought a copy of the CD, pricey though it was (especially for what had originally been released as a nearly free "bonus" record, paired with their official second album, WOW).And I've got to say, THIS is a lot of what I always wanted from Moby Grape -- extended jams, lots of blues, plunges into jazz, experimentation, spontaneity . . . . I was tripping on this CD before I even got to the bonus tracks, which are slightly uneven but well worth the price of admission. The music is engrossing, the playing is phenomenal, and to hear these guys just cut loose in any direction their inclinations took them, without worrying about the length of a song, or -- pretty much -- about lyrics, is an experience worth having for any but the most superficial fan. And with Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper along for the ride, what more could anyone want?I should also add that parts of GRAPE JAM are available, paired with most of its original LP pairing, WOW, on a single, edited CD. And that might suffice for people on a budget -- but I like these outtakes and the uncut original, and the extra expense was worth it!

Moby Grape -Jam 1968 - Achtung wieder "Out of print"
