Price went up $20 in just 5 years! ...a 60% increase!!!That said, I had forgotten I purchased one from Amazon 5 years ago and must have gotten a factory second or the proverbial dude at that time because this one shaved quick and smooth, just like the factory cartridge that came with my razor originally! Night and day between the first one I bought from Amazon 5 years ago and this one and is the reason for only 4 stars. Go figure!I've purchased others from other sites and they were just so-so like the first replacement from Amazon years ago. However, the one it replaced was starting to tear at my whiskers rather then cut smoothly let alone quick and I needed one real fast as I didn't have time to shop around or wait for one. They don't sell these in my local stores anymore so I jump on amazon and reordered. I was *shocked at the price increase* but HAD to have a replacement now! As in the *yesterday* kinda now! I figured the replacement would at least be smoother and safer than what I was using.This Braun replacement cartridge is *much* quieter and smoother than past other replacement purchases hands down. Took less than 5 minutes to shave this morning, vs the 15-20 minutes it was taking to get a smooth shave previously. Even the previous replacements took roughly 8-10 minutes *new*! I did buy the Panasonic ARC5 back then as noted below, but it just up and died after two years of daily use! As well, it cost me two replacement cartridges at a ridiculously high cost to boot! ...so I started using the Braun series 5 again and it's still working as flawlessly today as it did when new.Both units use the factory charge-n-cleaning stations, so I'm clueless why the other one just quite. Cleaning station works, but the Panasonic will not charge regardless. The btty's not replaceable either, so Braun to the rescue! All I can say is this replacement cartridge I just received reminds me of when the Braun shaver was new and I'm pleased, ...outside the extra $20 it costs today. Enjoy!- - -(Original Review: 1/19/2020)As others have noted, the quality of these replacement cartridges are sub par compared to the originals that come with a new series 5 shaver. When purchased new the shave was all but as close as a razor and left my face smooth in about 2-3 minutes. I got a full 1.5 years out of the original cartridge that came with the shaver new except for the last few months as it slowly deteriorated, especially the last couple months. Overall not bad all things considered for beard hair that regularly trashed name brand 4 blade razor refill cartridges at about 1 every week or two.The Braun series 5 replacement cartridge felt different right away. Not as flexible. The foil also appeared to be thicker than the original and made with a different, slightly larger whisker-hole size. I have one of the original Braun series 1 shavers as well and still use it as a travel shaver. The foil and cutter on it's replacement is different too. The hole pattern in the foil isn't the same as the original and causes me to have to work a little more at getting a real close shave and it doesn't last as long as the originals did years ago, ...but it still shaves closer than the series 5 cartridge does currently and I've actually been using it to finish the small areas of stubble the series 5 replacement cartridge oddly doesn't get anymore!That said, I've diligently kept it clean and lubricated by brushing it out, placing it in the cleaning station, and replacing the cleaning fluid cartridge when indicated. I've had the last series 5 replacement cartridge about one year as of this review and it's worn out already! The original cartridge that came with the shaver provided a 2-3 minute close shave and lasted up until the last couple months of the 1.5 year life expectancy when it deteriorated substantially resulting in an 8-10 minute shave time to obtain the same results as when it was new. This replacement cartridge "started out" being a 5-6 minute job to achieve a smooth shave.It has steadily declined from there requiring more and more time to get a reasonably clean shave. I've been in denial for too long regarding a replacement shave cartridge as the one prior lasted even less! I've really been pushing my luck with this one as it currently it takes anywhere from 10-12 minutes for a somewhat clean shave at the 1 year mark! This is unacceptable in my book when I can achieve better results with a razor in about 5 minutes or less, including wash and dry! I started using a shaver originally for faster shaves and health reasons to prevent shaving my skin raw with a hand razor, which ultimately damages the skin and allows bacteria to cause problems and breakouts.After careful research I'm considering a Panasonic ARC5 as my next shaver real soon. I have a nice (expensive) rotary shaver and never was comfortable or happy with it. Thus the reason I went with a foil shaver in the first place with the purchase of the Braun series 1 on a whim, at the checkout of all places years ago. Things were FAR cheaper and obviously better quality built then. As noted above I still have and use it today. It was my everyday shaver for years until I decided to try a series 5 a few years ago. Considering the low quality replacement cartridges for the series 1 I'm shopping around for a replacement for it as well. Too bad because I "really" like the feel of it and there's no comparable replacement that I'm aware of.Sorry Braun, but unless there's a major improvement regarding the shaver cartridges overnight, you're about to loose yet another dissatisfied customer. Both shavers are still great!... the replacement cartridges suck. I know nothing's perfect and other manufacturers have their issues as well, but far better quality and a longer life based on overall reviews. I'll buy another replacement cartridge for now as I can't afford a new shaver just yet, but I'll have one before I have to replace this replacement cartridge on the Braun series 5! ...least I hope I get at least 5-6 months out of another replacement cartridge. Some reviewers aren't even getting that!Very disappointed Braun customer.

FINALLY!! An AUTHENTIC Braun replacement foil!! These are made from aluminum and not plastic.. Bought 2 of them to have 3 years worth of quality shaving!! THANK YOU BRAUN!!

This cutter and screen work great. Just like the original one when I purchased. Good close shave, very pleased with product and performance. Tried to get a cheaper one but was a knockoff, looked similar but didn’t give the close shave. This one is legit

I got surprised to see that this razor head is no more made of metal, but of plastic. Of course the blade and the grid are still made of metal, but the body itself is now made of plastic. Looks very cheap and flimsy.Nonetheless the shave was smooth and efficient. But I hate how everything seems to go for the cheaper side these days.

Could no longer get replacement heads locally so purchased here. Don’t think I saved any mine but my face is happy again.
