Q: Does it have a preset function for radio stations?

I, too, can't see how to program preset stations. When shopping for a radio, presets were a must-have feature for me, so this one is useless to me.

Q: does it have power cord

Yes, it plugs in from the main unit to the wall.

Q: does the CD door open vertically? I can't tell from the description (planning to put it in a small space)

Yes it opens vertically so wherever you place it, there must be almost as much empty space above it as the height of the player. I wish I had known this before purchasing because I got it to put in a bookcase. I couldn't use it there because the shelves are in fixed positions and none are spaced far enough apart to use it there.
