I did not know that!
I did not know but somehow should have known much of the information presented in Seven Elements... . I am a 74 year old scholar of the world but much of this passed me by. I am not sure how many of you youngsters are familiar with the phrase "23 skidoo" i.e. "move along". It had been popular in the early 20th century. It come from the 1902 building of the Flatiron Building on 23rd. Street in New York City. The advent of steel technology allowed for taller buildings and the Flatiron was the tallest building in the city. The wind would gust around the corners of this building lifting women's skirts. Men would gather on 23rd. to ogle. Policeman would usher them along with "23 skidoo." Now that is a late in life pearl. This book is full of such enjoyable facts.

A review of elements critical to our civilization.
A good and easy to read and informative book. It lost a star because of the promotion of the global warming mantra by the global cabal.

I liked the science/history portions
This was one of the very few books (Kindle) which I ultimately put down. I liked the science/history portions. Where the book focused on the elements and their uses the book was informative. However, the author's continuous insertions of his political viewpoints eventually wore me down. In terms of history or science on which I have independent sources, the book seemed accurate. But when topics were political or contested, and on which my reading shows a broad spectrum of opinion, I found the author expressing positions well to the left of center as though they are fact. As a result, whenever the book went into social or political areas on which I do not have personal knowledge I found myself wondering if I am getting facts or political opinion. Eventually I just gave up.
