Solid upgrade. I bought this lead as the original one is very rubbery and 'sticks' or drags on everything. This makes the wearing of the headphones quite uncomfortable. This lead is braided so does not 'drag'. The reason I have knocked a star off is due to the substantial nature of the braiding. When the lead does rub against clothing or other objects, the braiding transmits the sound of the rubbing right through to the earpiece, so, instead of pure music, there is the sound of grating. It's only occasional, but as I wear these headphones when I'm working DIY and suchlike, I can't be arranging the cable all the time. A pity, as the cable is very well made, and does all the things the original cable did, and more.

Yes the lead is rather heavy and scrapes on clothing as some reviews have said however they last much longer and are better quality than the AKG original. This is my second one as after a long period of use there were connection problems with the plug,

[Used with AKG K451] Bought to replace my standard (broken) cable. The audio from this cable is great however if you're using it on the go you get an annoying scratching sound when the wire rubs on anything (jacket, shirt, jeans pocket etc.) It's perfectly fine if you're sat still but when moving it becomes annoying. Would not recommend.

Nicely made, can't hear any problems , some reviews mention a noise issue with the screening sleeve, yes it can be heard caused by friction rubbing but it's not audible during playback.

Lasts way longer than the stock wire that comes with the headphones and does a good job, only just starting to have some issues after about a year and their only minor issues
