SimpliSafeSmart Lock Series 2 (Black) for The Gen 3 Home Security System

**FYI - You do NOT have to pay for monthly monitoring for this to work in the app!**I live in a "smart" apartment that I created and set up myself. The only thing that is missing is to have a smart lock for my front door. I've tried a few other brands, but the apps were gimicky and the locks just weren't well made. I had finally given up after returning the second "other brand" lock... Until I found that Simplisafe just released a second version of their smart lock. I immediately bought it. I set it up immediately when it arrived. The packaging was as surprisingly impressive as the device itself - hats off to you Simplisafe. Within minutes I had the old lock off, the new lock on and even had it paired to my smart alarm. The one thing that I will absolutely APPLAUD Simplisafe for doing is including an outdoor keypad at this price. This is why I say it's a game changer. When I come home, all I have to do is put in any of the alarm codes into the keypad on the outside of my door and not only does it unlock the door but it ALSO disarms my keypad at the same time. This is perfect for letting anyone have a "key" to your home when they need it. It gives me a huge peace of mind knowing if something happens to me someone can get into my apartment with no issues to rescue/care for my furbaby. When it's time to leave, all I have to do is set my alarm to "away" and walk out. As soon as the countdown is finished it will automatically lock my door and send a notification to my phone that the door was successfully locked. No more fumbling with keys or wondering if you forgot to lock it. You can even dig deeper into the settings and choose how the lock behaves during arming/disarming. I have mine set to lock automatically when I put the system into "Stay" and anytime the alarm is turned off, whether it's set to Stay or Away the door automatically unlocks - perfect for anytime I need to take the dog out. I just disarm and open the door, no need to fumble with the lock anymore. All in all, this is an outstanding product by Simplisafe and I am so glad I decided to purchase this. If you own a Simplisafe system and this lock is compatible with your setup, please do yourself a favor and purchase this. You won't regret it!

I’ve used SimpliSafe’s alarm system before and have always been impressed with how easy everything is to set up—this smart door lock is no different.Install was super straightforward. Took about 15 minutes from start to finish. The instructions are clear, it connected to the base station without any issues, and calibration was quick.The included keypad works just as well—synced up right away and was ready to go with no hassle.Also, just a heads-up: this lock installs on the inside of your door, not the outside. I’ve seen a few people put it on wrong in videos, so worth pointing out.Overall, really solid product. Easy, clean, and works like it should.

Bought 2 and they work great with the SimpliSafe system. One thing to look for….The deadbolts I replaced were Schlage and were keyed on both the exterior and interior sides. These are incompatible with the SimpliSafe locks. I had to replace the deadbolts adding extra cost….but ultimately worth it. Knowing the status of and controlling my house’s locks gives our family peace of mind and were very easy to install.

These are a great addition to our security system. Easy install using your existing deadbolt. They can be set up to auto lock when the system is armed and to auto lock after a set time being unlocked. When the system is armed, keying in the code to unlock the door disarm the security system.

The lock works smoothly. A couple of things to know about this lock and its functionality:It does not come with an outside lock face. The keypad that comes with the lock is not wired to the lock itself, so you have to have a deadbolt tumbler. This is fine if you're upgrading from a regular deadbolt, but if coming from another smartlock, like the Yale X, you will need a tumbler for this to work.No matter what I tried, I could not get the lock to sit flush and tight to the door. I tried loosening and tightening the lock mount several times, and there was always a gap at the top of the lock and it was loose at the top.Opening the lock from the outside via the keypad will disable the alarm (this is a good thing). But from the inside, if you unlock the door via the thumbturn while the system is armed, the system will not disarm itself. This is annoying, and a function of needing a third-party deadbolt tumbler. It doesn't make sense to disarm the system if a key is used on the outside because there is no electronic connection to the exterior part of the lock. But this means, because the alarm system cannot tell if the deadbolt is unlocked via key from the outside or the thumbturn from the inside, it doesn't know to disarm the alarm. Other systems, like the Yale X lock, when connected to the Nest Secure system, would disarm the alarm if you unlocked the deadbolt from the inside. It could do this and not compromise security because the only way you could unlock it from the outside was via keypad directly attached to the lock itself.There should also be other colors available besides black and white. Brass, bronze, brushed nickel are all common colors of door hardware, and this lock doesn't match well with any of them.

Lock works well, does everything it’s supposed to. Very easy to install, maybe only 10min. However, I personally like the look of the last generation better
