why has this been discontinued?
why anthony's why??? why did you get rid of this? NO ONE ELSE makes a cheese powder that even comes remotely close to this stuff. It's so amazing and there is nothing out there now to buy that can replace this. PLEASE Anthony's if you see this PLEASE bring it back.

Good stuff
I use it for making macaroni and cheese and other similar casseroles, and Keto-Modernist-Molecular cheese sauce, thats about it. Other than that and maybe popcorn, which we dont eat, I cant think of any other good use. The manufacturer is no help, they pretty much say "try sprinkling it on everything". If you were to do that, putting it in a shaker would be the way to go, otherwise you will likely have a very uneven spread. it might cake-up a shaker though. Using a mesh strainer mat be a good way to get it spread evenly over, say broccoli. They suggest broccoli, but when I tried pinching some or spooning some out of the bag it just clumps together on broccoli. It's real easy to make the sauce I mentioned though. This powder is only a small part of the cheese sauce I make though, its just to amp up the flavor of the actual cheese I'm using.I find I have to whisk it very well with a small amount of whatever liquid is in a recipe, and even heat that liquid sometimes to get all the clumps broken down. Otherwise it really amps up the "cheddary" flavor of mac and cheese. Also disappointing that this product is not available? I dont see it on the manufacturers web site at all and even the white cheddar is sold out. I'm glad I got my last package...it lasts me a very long time and keeps seemingly indefinitely. Maybe it will be back in stock when I want it again.

Handy in a pinch for fast dinner creations! EXCELLENT for Cheese Popcorn! <3
Love the convenience, flavor is good, but not as rich/full flavored as I had hoped, but still good. This may sound weird, but I was in the mood for pasta… really didn’t feel like cooking after a long workday, so boiled some gluten free penne pasta, drained added a little butter to the saucepan tossed in a can of peas and some left over chicken cubed, mixed a little of the cheddar cheese powder and almond milk…once that was heated through added the pasta back in… but it needed a little zippp… so I added some dill and pepper, then squeezed fresh lime over the dish before serving…. It was soooooo good! Don’t be afraid to experiment… so fun and tastey! :) And this cheddar cheese powder has endless possibilities!UPDATE: I hadn't made popcorn for a while and when I did, remembered that I had some Anthony's Cheddar Cheese Powder... so I sprinkled a generous teaspoonful over the popcorn that I had put in a Tupperware bowl .. put the lid on and shook it up. Then I died and went to heaven ...OMG! BEST Cheddar Cheese Popcorn EVER!! So in the earlier review I said it was not as rich and full flavored as I had hoped, well... it still works like a charm in a pinch for cooking but OMG... it SHINES when it comes to Cheese Popcorn...that's really where it comes to life... SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD... addictive. I just reread my original post and so glad I did... lol forgot about that dish I threw together... now I have "the recipe" lol. I never use recipes... and love to create and experiment.. but when they are good ... like to keep them. :) Anyway... ENJOY your cheese popcorn..it truly is addictive its that good! :)

This is the real deal . . . cheddar cheese powder with no unusual additives
If you're looking for a cheddar cheese powder for baking or for flavoring cooked foods like popcorn or vegetables, there are **only a few** sold on Amazon.com that have no unusual additives, such as "nondairy creamer," "partially hydrogenated soybean oil," "maltodextrin," "yellow #5," "yellow #6," "sodium phosphate," "citric acid," "lactic acid," and more. (Take a look at the ingredients of nondairy creamers and see how this list compares!)Real cheddar cheese is made with milk, a culture to increase the lactic acid in the milk, and calcium chloride and rennet for curding and the cheddaring process, and a touch of salt -- its natural color is creamy white. Yellow cheddar cheese is colored with all natural annatto extract, not manufactured yellow food dyes, and it certainly doesn't have soybean oil or maltodextrin added to it. Check out the ingredient labels of the other products and you'll see what I mean. This is real powdered cheese.A tablespoon or two tossed over a bag of microwaved or air-popped popcorn is as good as it gets. I use it in popovers to add some pizzazz. You can sprinkle it on steamed fresh vegetables or baked potatoes rather than slaterhing them in cheese sauce. Or mix a half cup into a pound or two of ground beef to flavor up hamburgers or meatloaf from the inside out. And, of course, you can use it to make a genuine cheddar sauce for mac-n-cheese by adding it to a basic white bechamel or other cream sauce. The price is a little higher than the others with the additives, but its the additives that bulk up and cheapen the other products. If they would package this in 2 or 5 pound sizes, I would surely buy it.

Disappointed
I just ordered this product and received it in May 2022. It has a best by date of 11/20/2022. That's just barely 6 months. If you are thinking you are buying foe long term shelf life, think again. Now to preserve this for the upcoming food crisis, I'm thinking I have to seal it in food saver and freeze it, which defeats the purpose. If the electionI just purchased and received this product. It's May 2022 and the best by date is 11/20/2022. If you are thinking you are buying for long term shelf life, forget this. I intended this for a pantry item for the upcoming food shortage. Now I'm thinking I have to seal it in food saver and put it in the freezer, which defeats the purpose. I also ordered the heavy cream at the same time, and the best by date was 12/25/2022. I will not order Anthony's products again.
