I really do not think that this device pulls that much. It may be the case, but there is no substantial evidence that it does consume this amount of energy. I have seen other reviews that say the control panel is hard to manage, but in my case, it was rather easy. Also, someone said something about humidity level and that it is off, but in my case it seems correct and stays solid once the humidity level is reached. I do know that it brings the humidity level to the set level you set, then it will stay on until it reaches 3 degrees below, then finally turn off.Tips and Tricks:Plug in the long tube and place that either in bucket, sink or tub. You can hold the power for 3-4 seconds until you hear a slight beep to initiate the pump and the water will be expelled from the unit manually. You can also do this with the power off, it will start the pump and expel water that way as well.Other information:I used this for water damage in one room. Everything was bone dry in two days after running this device. Remember this device is estimated for up to 1000 square feet. I almost guarantee an attic/basement/crawl space may require a larger unit! Some complain that it is not working for the crawl space! I beg to differ based on the crawl space size that these people may be reporting!Some people reporting this device does NOT come with the long liquid expelling tube. It DOES come with this tube. I would only assume, the device they received was returned without it and then re-sold by a vendor that did not include it.In the end, this device is very solid! This is a very well built and sturdy dehumidifier compared to the cheaper ones I have bought from the Big Box stores. It arrived quickly in a very well padded box. Set up is very easy. I am using it in a 550 square foot basement and it has slowly lowered my humidity level to my goal in the first night. My guess is that someone would need a larger unit for a space much larger than my 550 square foot basement. I was hoping that it would be a little quieter. It measures about 65 db at 10 feet away which is about the same as the cheaper dehumidifiers that I have used. With a little sound dampening including a piece of carpet underneath it, I have been able to reduce it to about 60db at 10 feet. Maybe this is just the reality of all dehumidifiers. My main goal is to find a unit that will last longer than the cheaper units. The great build quality of his unit gives me good hope that this will be more durable. So far I am satisfied with the purchase.

Live in non-coastal South. Bought the no pump version. Works great. 3 months in so far. I have it sitting on a shelf about 2.5feet off the ground in the garage (about 500sq ft). They supply a hose and clamp. I have a home depot 5 gallon bucket sitting on the floor. I cut the hose just enough to hang halfway into the bucket. Then, I pull the hose up so only 2" or so hangs inside the bucket and then use the bucket lid to secure it modestly (no need to crimp the hose). I have a small humidity meter sitting near to compare. Usually around 4% difference. Good enough for me. I set mine to 50% for rust prevention. When a storm is coming or rain or just high humidity, it can be around 70%+ outside, and this thing does the job keeping it at 50%. On days like that I dump the bucket about once a day. Other days maybe once a week. Otherwise it shuts off. Clean the filter! Works good! If it goes bad I'll update my review.

I bought this dehumidifier to replace the old one that just died a few weeks ago. It is fairly lightweight for a crawl space dehumidifier, so setup was fairly easy. The feet on the bottom have a good deal of travel so leveling it was not a problem. Very simple controls that are easy to use make setup easy as well. So far it is keeping my crawl space at my set point of 55% humidity without having to run all of the time. Overall I’d say this unit is a very good value for the price paid.
