I have bought several "instant" read thermometers in several price ranges. Some of the cheapest ones perform the best. This one did not. I own and manage a small bar and grill. But whatever the size of operation I don't have time to wait 3-4 minutes to get a reading on a 25 dollar Steak.

Works great. Wish it just didn't shut off after ten minutes sometimes because waiting for the temperature while making candy can sometimes be a longer process than 10 minutes.
