The trangia is better made and blooms almost minute faster.

What types of fuel does it burn? Does rubbing alcohol work, or only denatured?

I used 99% rubbing alcohol when I traveled to Honduras on a missionary trip. Rubbing alcohol is allowed in checked luggage on airlines (much research on this beforehand). Yes it did soot the bottom of my pot BUT it wiped off easily with a dry cloth. I rehydrated every meal with a 2/3 cup of boiled water. It boiled 2/3 cup of water very quickly in about 4 to 5 minutes. This little burner works exactly as I hoped it would. I highly recommend it.

The flat swinging plate on the simmer ring is made of steel. Everything else is made of brass. Verify with your own magnet. I did.
