I hesitated about ordering this vinyl backing cloth because I've never worked with this type of cloth before and I wasn't sure I would know what to do with it. After a few days, I decided to get it and experiment with it. I received two pieces of felt with vinyl backing. Each piece measures 16 inches by 15.75 inches. The cuts are slightly uneven, but that won't make any difference once I sew it. I see that this is primarily used for tufting and for backing carpeting, but I intend to make four sewing machine presser foot pads with one piece, and want to use the other piece as the soles of a pair of crochet socks or baby booties. (That plan is subject to change if I think of something better.) To check how well it works, I laid one piece on the floor, vinyl side down, and tried to push it with my foot. The cloth stayed in place - so it works quite well. I like the pretty design on it - it's nice enough to use vinyl side up. Hmm, perhaps I could sew the two pieces together so top and bottom have vinyl, then use that as a table mat. It would keep the mat on the table and keep slippery objects in place on the mat. Overall, I like this cloth. It's great quality and looks nice. I'm looking forward to to using it in a project.
