The unit works as described. When I first set it up to use, I got no readings or feedback. I was uncomfortable with that not having any experience with CO dectors. I purposely struck a few matches and candles and checked the unit again and got some readings. I checked my range top again at various flame levels and after a short time (not fast as before) got some positive readings along with the audible tone up near the vent hood. Now I have my technique and my confidence in the meter. As it turns out, my gas burning equipment is within specifications. After some more research I have found that this type sensor probably should be replaced about every 5 years. Or more practical, throw it away and get a new one at that point. I will consider the need of this meter later, which is more sensitive, than the wall mounted smoke detection/CO units. CO is nothing to ignore and should be taken seriously.

I gave this a bad review and had to change it to great. My CO detector on the wall sounded on a cold day so I purchased this hand held to track the source, assuming it was the furnace in the basement. When I used the hand held CO detector the readings were zero everywhere in the house I thought the portable might not be sensitive enough. Eventually I got a positive rating and tracked the CO source to the gas trapped in my porch from warming up my truck. No problem with the furnace or chimney.Product works great. Even at low ppm levels.

Out of the box this TADETO CO detector has never worked. The instructions that came with the product were VERY minimal. I pushed the off/on button and the entire screen lite up (as though it was running a self check), then the number 30 appeared on the screen and counted down to zero - 30 seconds - and the device turned itself off. I went on-line to get a full set of operating instructions - not included with device. It described several operations and the use of the 4 control buttons to do those operations. No change. I tried holding the buttons a little longer each time - no change. I tried randomly pushing the buttons - in hopes that I could get an error message - or anything. Nope, nothing. I tried reaching the manufacturer to no avail. I will never repeat a purchase of this brand or manufacturer. Beware.
