Effective lure and casts far.
Caught a mackerel and a lizard fish with this Dardevle spoon off a San Diego pier today. Squirted some fish attractant gel on it that is sticky, after several casts the gel was still sticking to it. It casts far without the need for split-shot, very aerodynamic, but maybe not the smoothest spinning action I've seen while retrieving, but it works! I bought this because of Fishing for Dummies book said it was one of the classics that people have caught all species of fish with. I was amazed today because mostly I have luck with real bait like shrimp, and the fish ignore lures. Not today, they were chasing and biting the Dardevle just the same as the shrimp.

There is no better than Dardevle
I learned to fish with these when I was a young girl growing up on a ranch with a well stocked trout pond. Outstanding quality. Fish can’t resist.

Trout and Pickerel Like It
+Got a brown trout on third cast in a pond where trout don't come easily.+My son got three pickerel in about first ten casts.+Paint is durable.-Not sure if it's the hook, but so far it seems that setting the hook is not quite as easy as with some other hooks on other lures. It may be coincidence. I may try replacing it.

If you haven't got a Dardevle you are missin' some fishin'!!
Been buying these since the 1960's. They are so good the Northerns Pike keep scratching the paint off of them. After about 50 fish they ain't too pretty anymore, at least in my opinion, and you have to replace them. My brother is more frugal than me, he still uses his from the 60's, so have it your way, whatever it is, and you will definitely like the action you get on these. Now,.....how to keep those other fish from hitting them? Can't help you there. These work all year round, but are especially hot in June & july in Northern Pike Territory, Wisc, Minnesota, Canada, Michigan, Etc.

classic favorite
This was one we grew up using and relying on - but that could potentially be most any lure, lots of ways to get attached and develop favorites. But that aside, I lost one - misjudged and snagged it in a tree, so got this to replace it. I've had good luck with these but again I think that's an individual preference thing. Anyhow like having a few of these in different colors and sizes on hand.
