They work.
These work well as garden tool sharpeners. Hold them at an acute angle as you drag them across the blade surface. The softer metal shaves away to leave a bright edge.

don't have any idea how to use and can see no change in tools when attempt is made
I don't really understand how this works and there are no instructions. I can only assume it should be evident but I have attempted to use it, but can see no difference in the tools. So I have to say this was a waste of money

Tool and knife sharpeners
These came with absolutely no instructions and honestly my first thought was 'what the xxxx?' The description says they are easy to use and comfortable to grip, but I can only agree with the comfortable part. You drag the sharpener across your knife or garden shears and it is difficult to get the right angle, but that might be because I am much more used to using a butchers sharpening steel. These are definitely not as easy to use as some sharpeners that have the V shaped groove to draw a knife through, however the are definitely pocket sized, would be easier to pack for camping, and would work for garden tools that would be awkward to sharpen with other types. Maybe I will get better after using them for a while longer, but there is no way that I would use this on my good kitchen knives.
