'Walk on By' has a lot of energy and -of you play tenor sax- fits nicely under the fingers. I love the bass and drums in the backtracks. I'm a big fan of these Hal Leonard Jazz Play Along books and backing tracks, and own 13 volumes of them, but I must say this is the most disappointing of the lot.The arrangements are either more up or down tempo than you would recognise, or changed into a different time signature. 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again' is changed to fast 3/4 time, 'Walk On By' and 'I Say a Little Prayer' are oddly phrased and 'Trains & Boats & Planes' is changed to a Samba.My thoughts are 'If it Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It'.Only 'This Guy's In Love With You' 'A House Is Not a Home' and 'What The World Needs Now' have come out of it OK for my purposes.If you're not precious about the originals and fancy hearing/ playing them a bit spiced up then go for it, but if you're just looking for backing tracks for a loungy/ MOR setting (in the style of the Dionne Warwick versions), I'd give most of it a miss.

Hal Leonard è una garanzia! Pagato 11/12 euro.. ottimo prezzo. Gli arrangiamenti sono in stile jazz, fatti molto bene ma forse si perde un po' dello stile di Burt Bacharach con il tipico ritmo tra bossa nova e soft rock. Comunque il risultato è molto molto buono.

I have purchased a lot of the Hal Leonard Jazz series but don`t have the time to review allof them. Would just like to say, from a musical standpoint, these books are top notch. Theonly thing on my wishlist would be a way to remove the piano and the lead. As it is, you canremove the piano or the horn but not both at the same time. As a piano player, I would liketo play the melody and the acc. I also like that this series includes not just old jazz standardsbut, some newer music in a jazz style. If you are a horn player, you will love playing withthis rhythm section. Clean, tight and tasty.

I know they wanted to offer something a little different for these tunes that have been played countless times, however for this customer the tunes went a little too far away from the originals. This is coming from a jazz musician by the way.
