Best war game I've ever played!
I might have reviewed this one already. This is an amazing game!! Yes, it does take a little while to learn the rules, but it is worth the time invested. The creator of these series of games really knows gaming. You will be challenged! Unexpected things will happen. You might win every once in a while. But no two times playing it will be the same. I've been playing it now since I opened it out of the box in May or June, and I am continually impressed on the balance of all the aspects of the action, such as attacks won, attacks lost, extra resources in firepower for you and the enemy. And it is solitaire! Wow. I feel like I'm playing another person, except this person makes few mistakes.

A difficult, however insanely good time.
I purchased this for something fun to play when I can’t get a gaming partner. And I was no at all disappointed. The rules are slightly complex, but presented in a very streamlined manner and are easy to look up as you play. The game is DIFFICULT to win. Don’t get discouraged, I’ve lost three times in the past 5 days but had a blast all the while. The difficulty of the game is what drew me in when researching. If your ok with punishing difficulty and learning some mid level complexity rules, you will enjoy. Counters are of decent quality, I suggest removing from their sheet with an exacto knife or similar sharp blade to be safe. The map is of great quality, mounted for the 2nd edition. I have partial color blindness, and sometimes have difficulty with the color positions on the map. But I’ve the wife point out what is what so I don’t make mistakes. See picture of board.

Unwinnable victory conditions
Sorry to say I can't recommend this game. I played 15 or 20 times but the victory conditions may be impossible to meet. Wish I had looked on, "Board Game Geek", from all the years of post not sure if anyone has ever won. I would recommend D-Day at Tarawa or, Omaha Beach, both good games that use the same system hard to win but winnable. I so wish this game worked I love the subject matter and the system its a mystery why the designer don't come out with a scenario based on historical outcomes that can be won.

D Day Pelelieu
Very complex, poorly organized rules. Both sides could have been stepped/ depth rated. Rules take getting used to, I discarded those adding needless complexity to the game.
