Novartis Parastar Plus Flea and Tick Control for Dogs, 4- to 22-Pound, Orange

I used this on my chihuahua for 3 years. I always thought I was lucky for maybe getting 1 or two fleas each summer. I stopped using it 2 years ago and I have not had one flea. I have loads of deer in my backyard so I was surprised. I now have four dogs and I don’t treat any of them.

Worked great! We adopted a puppy from the shelter that had been "mostly" cured of sarcoptic mange. (The vet said to watch her closely for rebound, as she was still very itchy) Not only did it work, het fur is thick and beautiful now, I haven't seen a flea or tick, and I actually haven't reapplied it yet...it's been two months.

I originally was buying this from my vet until i found it on amazon.Word of caution, i have heard of cheap knockoffs being passed as the real deal.I can't say wether or not this is what happened to me, but i couldn't find any indication that what i received wasn't authentic.My experience with this product from the beginning was normal and without incident.However, my dog had an outbreak of dermatitis and after i put this on him he broke out in a rash the next day.Maybe his skin was just irritated by chemicals, or the applicator? No idea. No previous reactions before this.Vet told me to stop using it as the heart worm preventative i use is more than enough for an indoor dog.I still recommend it as it was working just fine in the beginning.

It's what her vet recommended. At the vet, they cost a bit more and usually her vet was cheaper with meds? Anyways, Parastar just offers me a little extra peace of mind. Though I never had an issue with Frontline, knowing that this one was recommended by her vet, makes me feel better. Though we don't live in a woody area, being in the south, we have plenty of pests to be concerned about. I take her for a walk to a nearby pond and who knows what's lurking in the old trees around there.I think my baby is being a bit of a baby or drama queen. She never liked me putting Frontline on her. I've noticed that she yelps when I initially put it on her? I wonder if there is an initial sting? She's fine afterwards. She hates me putting it on, I guess because she feels it spreading? She almost instantly goes to the rug and rolls around on her back. I thinks it annoys her, but I don't think it really harms her in any way.. especially not with the benefits. Being a newer product though, I will be on the look out for negative feedback.

I'm still finding fleas on my white, 11 lbs, chihuahua min pin mix.I applied another dose 2 weeks after the first dose.Then I applied a THIRD dose.That's THREE treatments all in the span of 3 weeks.There is no indication anywhere on the box telling how frequently to use this. =(It did not kill my dog, and it didn't kill any fleas.

Made my dogs fur look greasy and I kept him treated and he still got fleas 2x's. Now I use a collar recommended by friends. And no more fleas.

I have spent a small fortune on flea treatments for my dog: shampoos, carpet powder, sprays, other topical meds but they either didn't work at all or lasted a very short time. Parastar plus is the only product that has wiped out my dog's flea problem for long periods of time. This will be my go-to treatment from now on. So glad I found this product!

I have used it three times now and it does seem to work but I do not feel like it is effective for a complete 4 weeks. I will stay with it for a couple more months but am going to do some reading on other products in the meantime. For the price, I feel like it is a decent product.
