This is a red plastic lens in a white frame, with red LED's facing outward. Powered by a small battery (included) and controlled by a button that switches from three flashing modes to solid on.I'm assuming the way this works is that the red LED's shine a light that reflects off the shiny surface of pinhole cameras hidden in dark places. The red lens filters out other colors so you can focus on seeing red reflections only.I haven't found a hidden camera yet, but I assume I'm using this correctly.

I think the way to use this is to look through the red film and see if anything is reflected back. If any light is reflected back, it's possible it's a camera. I tried this at home and it did detect my home security camera. It will also reflect on other items though sometimes so it's not foolproof. I think it does work correctly but you'd have to shine the red light onto the item directly.

This thing didn’t even find my phones camera, and it’s not like it’s a complicated device because it’s not.

It maybe useful for some cases.. but it didn't helped me to find the hidden camera. The light is red and bright, but when you looking through the basic red filter window, you see it as is, flashing red light, very bright light, so even if you point directly on camera lenses, it's all red, there no brighter spot or anything, so basically it's not helping you to find any camera, it's just cool red flashlight, no more no less..

Unfortunately, it works. I say unfortunately because a place I stayed at I did discover a hidden camera. You may want this item to check some ot the places you stay at for your safety.
