I bought this for a trip to Korea and I'm so glad I did. We were attending a wedding and the bride's parents speak no English and we speak zero Korean.Everyone else was trying to use iPhone apps which were totally inferior to this dedicated device! By and large, the translations were fast and accurate. Over the 2+ weeks in Seoul and Gangneung we interacted with many people who did not speak English, and this was a lifesaver.I'm not sure how well it works offline because in Korea you rent a little cellular Hotspot at the airport that provides internet access everywhere.I am very, very happy with this purchase!

I ordered this because the design is appealing and I figured I could use it for work. If it actually worked, I would. However, the translator never worked. I spoke into it (English to Spanish) and could not discern whether or not it even recorded by words. It never played back so, I assumed it never recorded. Hoping for it to work using the OCR translation feature, I hovered over instructions that were in Chinese. It never translated the words on the printed paper. For comparison, I did both using Google Translate and both worked immediately via Google. This translator never worked on or off of wifi. 1/5 because the design was nice but the item did not work.

Simple operating functions. Offline downloads were fast and useful when not connected to WiFi. Clear voice is easy to hear.

We are going to Mexico next year and it’s been forever since high school Spanish class. I’m using an app to learn Spanish, but I got this to translate where I’m lacking! It’s about the size of a small phone. It’s very slow to start up, but it translated pretty fast. I’m disappointed that there isn’t a block for the charge cord. This thing wasn’t cheap… send a block with it! I’m very excited to use this on our trip!

I am one of those people with a terrible ear for language. My ability to read and speak Spanish is better than my ability to understand the speaker. This helps me avoid hearing mistakes and helps me check myself before responding. The positives include immediate translation, no WiFi, internet, or smartphone needed, and no monthly subscriptions or apps needed. Very good tool for travel.
