This leash is seriously resistant to everything. We’ve dropped it a thousand times, taken it everywhere, and it’s still in perfect shape after a whole year. It’s also super comfortable to use and feels like great quality. Most leashes feel too heavy for my Yorkie, but this one is soft and light for him — while still being strong and durable. Absolutely love it!

So I spent almost a year on a regular leash with my dog, a maltipoo type mix (not 100% sure we got her from a rescue). On a regular leash she's been fine but we let her sniff where she wants and don't expect her to be leash obedient like a big working dog. She can pretty much do what she wants as she gets enjoyment out of sniffing the neighborhood.We finally decided to get one of these retractable leashes that dog trainers hate. It's been seriously the best thing. My dog doesn't run everywhere out of control. But now she can go that extra distance easily to smell that bush or that patch of grass that was out of reach before. The lock is quick and secure so far. There's an attachment to carry your poop bags that I also love - before I clipped on the free holder that comes with the Amazon bags and it would flop around on my leash all the time and be annoying. The built in bag holder accessory is awesome, no more floppy floppy bang bang.Now if you've ever bought a cheap measuring tape you know the retracting mechanism dies very quickly in a poorly made product. I'm amazed at how solid this one feels and how smooth it is. Granted it's only been a few months but measuring tapes die within a few weeks if they are cheap. This thing feels like it's going to last a while and a lot of reviews seem to confirm that. This is a nicely made product, not a cheaply made knockoff.In any case - for a small dog that doesn't pull and run everywhere this thing is awesome. Walks are easier, my dog has a much wider space to explore and when necessary I can quickly stop her movement.

Why, you ask?Because the one arriving later today is replacing its predecessor which (I just looked it up) has lasted through 8 YEARS of daily use! Its isn't even broken - I just managed to scrape some of the rubber grip off and it was annoying to my OCD brain! 😅 It'll get tossed in the trunk for emergencies.This is the ONLY brand of dog leash I think I'd ever buy again.- It rewinds smoothly and rarely (if ever) fails to do so- Is incredibly durable and easy to clean (I just use a Clorox wipe every once in a while)- It holds the poop bags close at hand if you buy the attachment (which you should - and stop leaving your dog's poo on my lawn!)- It lets the little guy roam around while we walk and 16' lets him stop to smell the roses while I keep moving- It looks good while doing all of the aboveSo, A BIG THANKS TO FLEXI for such a great product!Another brand I feel deserves praise is Ruffwear - they too make high quality products that work great and last through daily duty.

Pretty good. Get what you pay for quality wise but work for small dog

Good quality for the price. It lasted about 9 months with my 10-pound Havenese, which is better than most other leashes that I have bought. The cord broke on the end, but that was 'helped' by my other dog that would chew on it at times to help walk her sister. Using the extension piece would prevent that, but unfortunately, that piece doesn't retract, so it is inconvenient to carry if you let your dog off the leash at times. The inside of the retractable leash seems well built and durable.

When I adopted Dexter three years ago, I bought a Flexi lead. During those three years, it has been dragged on pavement and over sand, and dropped in salt water and on hard surfaces (multiple times). Only now it’s starting to show one sign of wear at the point where the lead attaches to the clip. And after all that, somehow miraculously the lead retraction and locking mechanisms still work flawlessly. It has never once “tangled” or jammed. Not once! With the lead beginning to look at little worn at the tip, I’m not taking chances with Dexter’s safety, so I ordered two new ones.The new one has a bigger handle that is very comfortable for me. (This is saying a lot because I have carpal tunnel syndrome and my hand will go numb I hold onto anything too long.) The Flexi feels quite sturdy in the hand and the type of plastic is comfortably grippy even when wet. Lead retraction is very smooth and the locking mechanism is reliable and easy to operate.Why I will never go back to a traditional leash:- Dexter loves the opportunities I can give him to run a little bit ahead and take his time sniffing something while I carry on walking.- I love that I can furl him in and walk him at my heel when there is traffic, people, or other dogs nearby.- I like that because there is always tension on the lead, it never gets stuck under the dog’s belly.I have no experience with other lower-priced brands of retractable leads, nor do I need to. I trust Dexter’s safety to my Flexi.

I have purchased this item more than once. It is lightweight but durable. It's super easy to use and fits comfortably in your hand. Very easy to control the lock button. This is my go-to leash for sure! The only issue is my dog is a chewer and can easily chew through the leash. To solve this issue, we purchased cable extensions and that has prevented the chewing. I would highly recommend!
