Girls with a King on Their Side
So what's not to like about some great Carole King songs? These girls were willing puppets, and they turned out 2 hot cuts, "Chains" and "Don't Say Nothin' Bad( About My Baby)", and a few minor pleasures, "Will Power" and "I Want a Boy for my Birthday." They were great background artists, much utilized in their time, but totally reliant on good material as artists. Check out the live drums on "Chains"; the man kicked butt! It was a guitar and drums song, and a great little hot record. It got plenty of radio play in the Midwest. It's all on Dimension Records, which put out Little Eva, The Jewels, and a positively funny/wonderful version of "Swinging on a Star", along with Carole King's solo stuff, (ho hum 'cause it was a bit too innocent, even for my boyish Midwestern ears.)She got better as she grew up, got burned a little, cried some tears, and did Tapestry. The rest is history. If you were a recording artist in the 60s you would be well served by having The Cookies in the studio; these girls could harmonize!

great tunes
When I was a kid my father only listened to older music. When most kids parents where into the Beatles and stuff like that he listened to bands from the previous generations. I always remembered the song Chains... because the Beatles covered it and my father always ragged their version! Ha Ha!! But I always liked them as a kid so I had to get this cd.

Great Music, Great Price
This is a no-frills cd, no booklet, just great songs from one of the great girl groups of the early '60's, one of several covered by the Beatles in their earliest days. I bought this for the 3 or 4 songs I knew by them and was surprized by a couple other songs that were enjoyable, too, like "I'm Into Something Good". Good sound quality and an excellent price. It's a no-brainer to recommend this.

I likes it.
This was a good cd to listen to. I enjoy good listening music and would let others know about it. the Cookies and Chuck Willis are oldies to remember if you like that kind of music.
