light is a little less yellow than picture but works
Really great coverage though. I used it over sunblock 50spf, powergrip primer by elf, and it stayed on most of the day

Beautiful finish on all skin types, but pricey for the brand
Formula: Like noted in the description, this foundation has a watery consistency. Personally, I like to thicken up the formula a little for ease of application by mixing a bit of primer directly into the foundation on the back of my hand. There is a mild paint smell that does not carry or linger.Application: A damp sponge is probably the way to go with this foundation because some brushes will leave a streaky finish. NYX's recommendation (noted on the side of the box) on how much to use for different levels of coverage seems to be complete nonsense -- I use 3-4 droplets for light-medium coverage and another 2 or 3 to build up to something fuller where necessary. The watery consistency allows for seamless building of coverage in specific regions and a very skin-like, natural matte finish overall.Wear: I have combination skin, ranging from dry, flaking, and acne-prone areas to very greasy ones. By the end of the day, this foundation still looked flattering on all of these problem areas. I had no shine breakthrough or patches where the foundations wore away or turned patchy. Admittedly, this is probably confounded by the primer I added into the foundation.Shade Range: Even though NYX has been ahead of other drugstore brands in offering diverse shades and undertones, there are still a lot of weird jumps and gaps in the line. That said, the fluid consistency and dropper mechanism allow for easy and precise shade mixing for a custom match. Personally, I mix equal parts of Porcelain (03) and Pale (01) on the back of my hand to get the right shade and undertone for my face (which is very fair with a beige neutral undertone). More generally, I appreciate the existence of Pale (which is really, shockingly fair) as a general foundation mixer. Also, the formula probably isn't exactly identical among shades -- I noticed that Porcelain is a lot runnier than Pale.Price: It's important to note that there is only 0.43 fl. oz. per bottle compared to the usual 1 fl. oz. for foundations. This means that the actual price per fluid ounce is $32.56 (or $20.40 based on current price on Amazon), which would put this foundation in mid-range/non-drugstore price bracket.Overall: The NYX Total Control Drop Foundation is very versatile. I really enjoy using this foundation and would gladly purchase again when I run out. Important takeaways are that the formula is very friendly to both oily and dry skin and the shades are easy to mix for a custom match, but this foundation is overall pretty pricey for the brand. For ease of application, I recommend mixing a bit of primer into the foundation on a palette or the back of your hand and then using a damp sponge.

Not the same color
These are NOT the same color shades they used to be! Look at the difference in color in the pictures I took. I swatched it to make sure it wasn’t just the color of the glass bottle

High hopes, but really let down
I had somewhat high hopes for this foundation, but it is not for me. I would say that perhaps if you are a younger person with minimal pore issues, no dry skin--you might like it better than I did. I generally like most NYX products, but unfortunately, this one was just a let down.RE: Reviews saying that it's too thin of a formula--that's the idea. You can start out with just a little and get sheer coverage, then add more drops to build all the way on up to full coverage, if you so desire. I was able to achieve full coverage, but I felt like it took a lot of drops to get there, and the end result was cakey and not a very natural finish at all. I tried this foundation twice, just to make sure I was giving it a fair shot. I wasn't pleased the first time, so the second time I tried it with a different, more matte primer and setting powder. And both times I was let down. Now, I did not use the recommended foundation brush that NYX suggests--I prefer a beauty blender. Maybe that could have had something to do with it, but I kind of doubt it. A beauty blender really helps you push that product into your skin for a more natural finish and is always superior to a brush in my eyes. Sometimes I use a brush to get the product on where I want it, but I always finish off with a beauty blender for a smooth blend.I am in my thirties and have some skin issues--breakouts from time to time, areas where my pores are larger and dry skin too. I typically exfoliate and moisturize well before makeup application. I let my primer sit on my face to set for several minutes. I do eeeeverything one should do for their skin for optimal results when putting on makeup. I'm not messing around here! If I'm going to spend the time doing a full face, I want it to look right, and that means starting from the ground up with the best base I can possibly have! Both times I used this foundation, I felt like it made my pores really stand out, even in places where I don't typically find my pores to be very concerning. The fact that I was wearing heavy makeup was most apparent on and around my nose. A little bit of dryness around my nostrils peeked out and became apparent right away. My laugh lines were extra pronounced. I found it creasing and settling into fine lines around my eyes faster than I could get powder on it to set. I ended up spending a LOT of time working on a smooth finish with this foundation, when really, there are products out there that are full coverage right out of the bottle and you don't have to spend nearly as much time getting it in place. I don't think I am a fan of this concept of building up coverage from sheer to full. It just took too much time and effort.By the end of a ten hour work day the first time I wore it, it looked splotchy and cakey. Settled into fine lines, even though I set it with good powder and setting spray. And the second time I wore it for maybe half that time and still saw the same results. You're telling me I can't even wear a full coverage foundation for five hours? I know this is a cheaper "drugstore" brand, but Fit Me (both matte and dewy & smooth), Revlon Photo Finish, Wet n Wild, etc. all work better. This is a lot of words about just a foundation, but I was super bummed. I wanted it to work. I tried it more than once just to see if I COULD make it work and be happy with it. Try one of the brands I mentioned above--I think you'll be happier if you're looking for medium to full coverage. Most of them still require a little building up to get to FC, but not nearly as much work as this product, and with much nicer, smoother looking results.

Great coverage! Wish I would have found this sooner!
After reading through all the reviews and watching lots of YouTube tutorials/reviews I went ahead and purchased this foundation.I was worried because I’m so pale it was hard to choose between pale and alabaster so I took the plunge and went for pale. I’m so glad I did. It does make me look a tiny bit ghostly when I put it on by itself, but once I put all the rest of my makeup on, I feel it’s the perfect shade for my skin tone.I read some reviews that also mentioned how watery it is. I can see why they say that, as if you drop too much product it can run a bit. So the best method I found was to do a little bit at a time. I applied/dropped the foundation onto my face and used a beauty blender to blend it out.The coverage is excellent and I will definitely be using this as my go to foundation. I’ve worn it for a few days before I’m leaving this review and I do feel like it holds up better and doesn’t look nearly as oily as other products I’ve used. You can also mix it with another foundation if the color is too light. The bottle is pretty small, but for $4.10 on Amazon, you can’t really complain. It’s a great price! Way better than in the stores!I will be a returning customer!
