Easy to read book
The topics flow very easily. One leads topic leads into the other with no guessing games. The concepts are broken down into plain language. It's not written by a technical writing engineer.

Not real good for beginners. Alot of info not really needed for a diesel engine specific book.
To be on its 5th printing it has some pretty obvious errors. Like telling you to get GM computer programming from the Ford motorcraft site. Or giving an example of how to manage the turbo charger on a P-51 Mustang when neither of the P-51s engines were ever fitted with a turbocharger. He may have meant the P-47 but how did this mistake survive 5 printings of this book. Another example is when he says that the cubic inch displacement of the engine should give you a good idea of the cold cranking amps that are required for starting. Then gives an example of a 441 cid engine needing a 700 cca battery. Not the one to one ratio by any stretch. The book has alot of good information but also contains alot on engines that are no longer very commmon. Not so sure why the extensive information on batteries, starters and alternators is needed.

Might be my favorite book on diesel mechanics
Very informative, and covers the actual function, rather than process. I found it to be far more educational than any mechanics book I've found. It explains the development plans, and science. That's why I love it. It explains the way it works, so you can understand what the repair is repairing.Very good book.

INFO. INFO. INFO
Covers theory and functions of most all diesels so you can understand and troubleshoot systems . VERY HELPFUL INFO. Other name brand “repair manuals” (Ch & Ha) are waste of time and money. Used to be “beyond the scope of home mechanic”. NOW manuals say “beyond the scope of this manual” Read this and troubleshooting gets easy!
