Saw these kits in the local big name garden centre. As always, they were treble the price that I managed to find on Amazon! This one has the bonus of having a telescopic light bonnet so as the plants grow taller, you keep extending the telescopic neck to suit the height of the plant. A great feature I thought.Decided to take the plunge so we could try and become self sufficient on herbs, especially basil which we use a lot but found hard to grow outdoors in the UK climate. Kit was easy to set up. After doing some reading I'd established that you need to use a particular type of water. Either RO or distilled for best results. Amazon to the rescue again after the high street failed me. At £10 for 5 litres it isn't cheap so may review other solutions depending on how much I'll go through but at least I can get going. Now the tricky part - patience. Kit looks impressive and the lights come on and go off at the pre-set times and the pump isn't too noisy. We have it in the kitchen and the noise from the unit is audible but not intrusive. Results can't be judged just yet but we are happy with the setup and more importantly the price was amazing compared to buying it locally where they put huge mark ups on the kit.

We just started using this the other day..and so far it has been a doddle to use. Easy to keep the reservoir topped up with nutrients and the led lighting schedules are perfect to automate the lights. Although it would have been nice to have more control of these instead of the preset settings.It comes with everything to get you started from the rootblocks to nutrients. I would recommend researching depending on what you are trying to grow to give you the best start. I presume it wil work with most plant nutrients for water but check in with your local garden centre to be sure. Bring on the chillies!

A bit tricky to clean inside but that’s a minor point considering this bad boy can grow up to 12!! Plugs. Yep, 12. There are options to program how long the light is on for depending on what stage your plants are at. The air pump is very handy, helps cleaning the water and providing the plants with an intake of oxygen. You can keep herbs to grow in here on a windowsill in the kitchen or only grow plants while they’re small then move them to their own pot. This grow system saves time and thinking since most of it is automated.

So, I've been growing basil and salad leaves in the summer, but I wanted to level up and try something new to have fresh greens all year round. The kit looks pretty solid, and the instructions seem straightforward enough. It's kinda bigger than I expected, though, so it won't fit on my windowsill, but it should give my plants plenty of room to grow. The lights are seriously bright and you can adjust them for different plants. There's also a fan that makes a quiet hum and a timer to keep everything on track. I've started with basil, rocket, and chard, but I'm thinking of trying out some ghost chillies and coriander too. I'll give you all an update in a month or two to see how things are going!The kit comes with some fertilizer that should last for a while. The sponges look like they can be reused, and you get 24 to start with. Oh, and there are these plastic plant labels, but I don't really see myself needing them. Just in case you're wondering, the base unit is 35 x 26 cm in size.
