Brilliant start to his solo career
Like many others, I first heard about Blaze Bayley through the Iron Maiden route. I was impressed enough by his singing to begin a still ongoing process of collecting his other stuff both before and since. His voice is at quite a low register and deep but still very powerful especially when given the right material to work on.Overall first class metal from start to finish. Several songs were so catchy I could not get them out of my head for quite a while afterwards. In particular "Launch" rattled along at a fair pace. Although the overal subject matter was treated with his usual seriousness, this album did not yet the level of gloom and doom some of his later work has (ie. parts of "the Man Who Would Not Die" are so angry they are practically snarled out). I felt that since this was his first solo album, he was still working out a distinctive style.Unfortunately, I am writing this at the library from memory without the CD to hand so I cannot refresh my memory to add any more.

This is awesome
l so much regret it took so long for me to find out about Blaze's solo career. I must admit that, like many other Maiden fans, always found his voice a poor fit in Maiden, but his solo career proves that he is an excellent metal singer, and this album is just amazing.Only recently I have realised that Blaze was releasing solo albums, after seeing and add for his upcoming tour dates in England, so I searched him up in youtube, wow. I can't believe I have missed so much good music over the last 15 years. This is proper metal, with a lot of punch, fresh, original, and Blaze's voice is awesome. He deserves to be up there with all the greats, and it is a shame that his music hasn't had wider appeal. If you like metal go buy Blaze's CDs now, all of them, you wont regret it.

WOW
Great Album by Blaze, I love the X factor album he did with Iron Maiden. Musically the Silicon Messiah is different from Maiden but Blaze voice is great here and the music is very heavy and powerful. My first album by Blaze and definitely not the last.

Forgotten Classic!
I was recently reminiscing about the days of old when heavy metal was in its gloomy period and so many bands were breaking up and getting back together to the point we all lost track of what was happening. One such band that went through this phase was Iron Maiden. They took on, misused and sacked Blaze Bayley. During this period the group released some of their most under appreciated work, specifically in the magnificent The X-Factor.So when Blaze Bayley was ousted from Iron Maiden, the folks who enjoyed the band's most recent input looked forward to his first solo outing and we were utterly gob smacked at the huge quality difference between the bands début Silicon Messiah and the previously released Virtual XI.The material produced by the Blaze band is very well written and quite dark. The tone of the guitars is quite different to the Iron Maiden based material and it is a refreshing sound, even in 2016. Each song has a satisfying punch as the band blast their way through the ten song track list with endless enthusiasm. Songs like the opening Ghost In The Machine, The Brave, Reach For The Horizon and even the albums title track are fantastic. I would go so far to say that there isn't a bad track on the album and each one has aged a lot better than the material produced by Bayley's former colleagues. They most certainly made a questionable decision getting rid of this bloke.Musically speaking, this was a great band of musicians. There are moments of bass and drum rhythms from Rob Naylor and Jeff Singer that could be considered world class. The same could be said for the twin guitar playing from Steve Wray and John Slater. Two players who are borderline brilliant. They work off each other so well that had they kept going, I think they could of been a band for the ages. I certainly would of loved to of heard them perform this material live.Iron Maiden fans will forever compare this to the album Brave New World which was released on the same year. In comparison I would say that Blaze got an edge on his former band mates. Whilst their album is fantastic in it's own right, it lacked the emotional feel and powerful presentation that is in Silicon Messiah. This is by definition an underrated classic and one that should be in every heavy metal fans collection. The only negative I have for this record is the 15th Anniversary Edition bonus tracks. The songs themselves are great but there is a noticeable volume difference between them. Once track ten finishes you suffer a major kick in the face in the opening notes of The Day I Fell To Earth. A minor flaw in an otherwise perfect album.

Und dann das epische, unglaubliche "Stare at the Sun". Wahnsinns-Album!

Silicon Messiah : An Incredible Accomplishment
First of all, I'd like to say that I have never been a fan of Blaze Bayley. Iron Maiden is my favorite Heavy Metal band, and his two efforts with Maiden after Bruce Dickinson left, were a joke in my opinion.I was very, very cautious buying this CD because of my lack of interest in anything Blaze had put his name on. I was worried about buying this and being disappointed. I just didn't like Blaze, or his voice. He didn't fit in Iron Maiden in my opinion.SILICON MESSIAH REVIEW:This CD is better than Iron Maidens' "Brave New World". It's almost better than Bruce Dickinsons' solo efforts "Chemical Wedding", and "Accident Of Birth". I just bought it, so in time it could move above both of those releases on my favorites list..To put it to you simply, "Silicon Messiah" is one of the best CD's I've bought in years. There is not one single song on here that doesn't completely rip!!!....The great thing about this solo effort from Blaze, is that he no longer has the ghost of Iron Maiden hanging over his head. His voice fits this music much better than it did with Maiden. You can still hear some Maiden influences at times, but it's so much better than before. This CD is a masterpiece. Worth every penny!!"Silicon Messiah" makes "Brave New World" look very bad in comparison....."Messiah" is leaps and bounds better than "Brave New World". I can't believe I just said that!!!...."Silicon Messiah" is nothing short of a Classic Heavy Metal Masterpiece.....Buy It Now!!!

Underrated Metal Classic
I, like so many others, discovered Blaze Bayley through his work with Iron Maiden and decided to check out his solo work from there. This is Blaze's first album after being let go from Maiden and he knocks it out of the park.It feels like Blaze is pretty hungry on this album--like he still feels like he has something to prove. The songs are heavy and intense. Blaze took flak from a lot of Maiden fans during his time there but he is by no means a bad singer. Using musicians who complement his lower range, he releases an album here that has a power metal sound but with some extra depth and heaviness because of the at times downtuned guitar sound. Musically, this album holds up against anything he or anyone did with Maiden. In short: buy this album.
