As good as a Tile - but cheaper, with a replaceable battery
I find the critical reviews here hard to understand as the Nut seems as good as any other similar device. I have previously had a Tile, for example, which is the market leader and a chunky little device and that is, in practice, no better - and suffers from not having a replacable battery. The battery in Nut can be replaced, and the device itself is cheaper - and smaller. It could easily, and unobtrustively, fit in a wallet, for example. The only thing that signifcantly concerns me is that it attaches to...whatever... with a short, thin cord (whereas the Tile has a hole for attaching to a keyring).I've also used other versions of the Nut and in practice they are all as good as each other. The only thing to note is that this version includes a button allowing you to locate your phone - so the "finder" works both ways. Cheaper Nuts do not have that button, making it a false economy I think.Set up is pretty I think, straightforward. Though my 21 year-old student son stuggled a bit, I had no problem, The nut, when the button is pressed, makes the phone "ring" (well, chime) even if it is on silent or on standby, and the phone makes the Nut bleep - not the loudest bleep, but as good as the Tile.So how well does it work? Well, it is dependent on a Bluetooth link between the two devices, and Bluetooth is far from foolproof as anyone who has used headphones or similar Bluetooth linked devices will know. Experimenting a bit the performance of the Nut is not 100% but it is pretty much identical to the Tile. The linked devices will also let you know if they lose contact with each other, which is great in theory but a bit of a pain in real life unless you are keeping them almost in the same pocket or bag. You can turn this off, however. In theory the locator is not just depedent on your own phone. There is a crowd effect - the GPS locator uses any Nut or Tile user's phone to report the position of your Nut (or Tile), and upates its location thoughout the day. This obvously depends on there being a lot of owners in area and, frankly, will only work in a city. Whether there are more Nuts out there than Tiles I do not know - I suspect the former because it is the market leader - but unless you live in somewhere like London I'd no begin to rely on this.Obviously the Nut itself has no independent GPS - it uses the linked phone for that. But if you are expecting a device with full GPS for under £10 then you are not living in the real world. Again the single star reviews are just unrealistic. One other matter to note is that keeping Bluetooth on on your phone all day will reduce its battery life - but again that is a problem with all of these locators. The Nut is no worse on this than any other.

Short range indoor gadget only
It works only if you have 's a big house, only powered by blue tooth, it can drain off your phone's battery pretty quick.Only recommend it if you have a friend who may have dementia and have a smart phone at the same time, who can remember to turn blue tooth on all the time and use the app to locate it.I just drop another star after I have written it

Awful. Don't waste your money
Awful. Only works when the device is within Bluetooth range. The Amazon advert implies you can find it online even when out of Bluetooth range using what looks like GPS, you can't do this. It's over sensitive and beeps when you are only a few feet from the device despite setting a proximity boundary. The maps are not accurate for tracking the device. The 'declare lost' function does nothing at all.So not waste your money on this!

Does NOT have GPS. Bluetooth tracking range only!
1 star for false advertising. This device does not use GPS. It uses blutooth to talk to your phone and your phone logs the GPS coordinates in the app. This means if you lose it outside the bluetooth range of your phone you can not track it because it will not be able to update it's coordinates. However the app will tell you the last location it WAS within range of your phone and it can alert you if it goes out of range. This means if you drop it somewhere your phone will bleep and show the last coordinates that it was within bluetooth range so you can traceback your steps. It says the range is 50m but my experience is around 3 meters max (since when has bluetooth worked from 50m away) , and if there is a wall in between, forget it. The feature to find lost items may work if everyone had these but since it relies on someone else carrying a NUT walking within 3 meters of your lost item I wouldn't hold your breath!

Not fit for purpose.
The Nut itself screws up from time to time and only by removing and putting the battery back will it reset - Not so bad if it screws up whilst you know where it is!! Seen many other reviews else on the web with this problem so I know it isn't a one off. Also, not sure if it is the Nut's app, my phones bluetooth or the Nut itself but constantly connects/disconnects through the day even when well in range/stationary!
