🌞 Don't Get Burned - Know Before You Go!
The SunKnown UV light meter is a portable device designed to measure the strength of harmful ultraviolet solar light radiations. It provides accurate readings of the UV index, helping users assess their risk of sunburn and UV exposure. With a user-friendly one-button operation and included batteries, this handheld device is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts looking to stay sun-safe.

Easy to use
This meter is as simple as they come. You can either press and hold the UV Check button and get a live reading, or press and hold the Max button to get only the maximum reading (making sure to move/tilt the meter around while pressing). It does one thing and does it well.Any complaints about the meter having an auto-shutoff function instead of a physical off button is simply ridiculous. The meter has been working for months with no loss of battery power. Furthermore, I have other meters ranging from a stud finder to a pulseoximeter to a temperature gun which all work with the exact same auto-shutoff feature.

Very Interesting Device
I've always been careful with exposure to the sun. Living at 10,000 means extra caution. We pay close attention to the Gov's UV Index website but have believed it was not accurate since it is a very basic tool. After using this UV meter I see the UV Index is very inaccurate. Today the UV index indicated a 4, the UV Meter indicated 10.

works ok, but accuracy may be an issue
This device is OK for casual measurements of the UV index. It displays those values only to the nearest half UVI value and those values seem reasonable where I live (roughly, max UVI of 10,9-10.5 under sunny noontime summer skies). It is comparably priced relative to other similar devices. I have seen complaints about the lack of an "off button." The documentation is perfectly clear: hold down the UV Check button for 4 seconds and the unit turns off.

Avoiding Family Sunburns
Love being able to check actual conditions. I just press HOLD and aim it towards the sun, rotate it around the see the high reading. Overcast, hazy sky. UV seems to be like 2 to 6, big difference in risk of sunburn. Kids don't like sun screen. I show them the UV number and tell them they must have it. Easy to use, just keep it in my pocket. Great on bike rides. If UV hits 9.5 or 10 we must get out of the sun. Display is good. Not complicated. Priced right. Recommend this device.

Either it does not work, or the instructions are terrible, or both.
I have installed the batteries, and followed the directions a number of times. I have written the product support email, and this product just does not read the UV after the initial setting. The support email is extremely cryptic and does not want to provide any information. It is not only a piece of junk, but a big waste of time.Lucia

Not accurate for me.
I was hoping to get an accurate uv index for my reptiles. I tested old and new bulbs (megaray and arcadia) and could not get a reading above 1.0 using a range of 8in to 24in. I will be returning this item for sure.

Rough tool - not great for science projects
My lack of faith in finding a refined UV instrument for $40 was validated. Measures UV in increments of 0.5, so not the most precise of tools, especially if you are trying to compare UV blocking power of like materials. The sensor is small - it takes some effort to point the sensor directly at the sun to get an accurate read. Good for cruder measurements, I suppose.

Works great. Follow the instruction pamphlet
After putting in the batteries with a small screwdriver. The device worked like a charm. Great for testing whether products claiming to be UV blocking actually are such as sunglasses
