Mac Pro External Bluetooth Antenna Kit

Many upgrades later and still going strong, I still had a wired keyboard and mouse for my 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 since I purchased it new 12 years ago. Until now. As we all know BT has been a problem for these machines. After this upgrade I now use a magic mouse and a magic trackpad I purchased 10 years ago but could never use. Easy to install and such a simple solution. I installed the remote antenna close to my mousepad. No more disconnects, stuttering pointers or general frustration with bluetooth connections. You could save a few bucks and buy the components and do it yourself, but why bother. Everything you need is in the kit and works properly. The only improvement I can think of would be to add a small piece of heat shrink tubing or some sort of cap to cover the connector of the internal antenna wire after it is removed from the BT module.

This kit worked well for my issue. I had already replaced the WiFi/BT card to the newer version prior, but decided to try reusing the original antennae(s). Big mistake. My Matias Keyboard and Apple magic Mouse were experiencing poor BT signal strength. Now I'm at -58-64dBm on average respectively. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I thought the internal cable could of been a tad longer. Also, the included instructions weren't the best.

excellent kit! before I was using a bluetooth usb adapter with a usb extension close to my devices and I was still getting lag and having issues connecting since it wasn't a true native adapter. This kit is pretty easy to install and now I don't have any lag or issues connecting my devices! sad that it took me this long to find it! Thanks!

Good upgrade. I installed this while I was upgrading the graphics card in my Mac Pro (mid 2010). Like other reviews have stated, the tiny wire connection to the computer required some care and patience. But it's doable: just use lots of light and take your time. I'm happy with the reception improvement. I can play music from my Mac to a bluetooth speaker outside on our deck, which I couldn't do before installation. I brought the external antenna up to the top of my desk and a temporary spot with a rubber band until I decide where I want it permanently.

This kit installed in my MacPro 5,1 in about 20 minutes. I can restore the original condition of my machine any time I want. Moving the Bluetooth antenna outside of the MacPro's case added about 10db to the signal strength of my MacPro. This allows me to install a third party USB3.0 card and use newer, faster, USB devices in my MacPro. Without this kit, adding the USB card made the Bluetooth unstable. Moving the antenna outside of the case solves that problem.This kit include an extension cable and velcro/double sided tape so you can relocate the Bluetooth antenna right under your mouse and keyboard. I did not use that.

Worked great on my Mac Pro (Mid 2012). It was a pain in the butt to install because the connection is so tiny. That's Apple's fault. I'm just grateful that there is somebody out there who recognized the problem, found a solution, and implemented it for the rest of us.Still don't understand the problem that well, since bluetooth worked with my Bluedio Victory headphones; but not with my BT Macally keyboard. I do understand why bluetooth could be such a problem with this Mac; I mean who would put an antenna inside what is basically a Faraday cage and expect it to work great?By the way, works on the Windows side w/Bootcamp as well.My keyboard works like it's supposed to and now my headphones work anywhere in the house—upstairs downstairs and outside. Apple put the bluetooth antenna on the back wall of the Mac Pro, while the Broadcom upgrade, gives you an extension cable to get to the original antenna, the antenna itself is still a piece of junk, causing the magic mouse and magic keyboard to disconnect/behave erratically. The Mac Pro External Bluetooth Antenna Kit, gives you the option of "ignoring" the original antenna altogether. Replacing it with a very nice directional antenna that is on the "outside" of the mac. with a little patience and routing of wires. the new antenna works flawlessly. Pretty soon, you'll forget how frustrated you were. Perfect.

I watched a Youtube video prior to purchasing so knew how to instal it before buying. I drilled a 1/2" hole in my single NVMe 2tb PCIe drive X4 lane at the very top so 1) I could place the antenna on the computer w/o it blocking othe ports and most importantly 2) Did not occupy a precious PCIe lane.Had I not watched the video, it came with a nice printed at home style instruction sheet:) WITH A PHONE NUMBER FOR SUPPORT US!6 Stars Sir!
