Didn’t realize it had a usb charger in the base when I ordered it

I looked at a number of options, including building my own "steampunk" styled lamp, and then I bought this lamp. It came on time and ready to use. I just had to put in the included LED bulb (standard screw-in style, which says if I use it three hours/day it will last me 23 years). It wasn't assembled very well. If you're interested in what I did to improve it, you can read that below. General impressions of the lamp are: it looks nice. The black and bronze colors remind me of a pint of Mac & Jacks. Manly. The switch is a toggle on the base. Convenient. The USB receptacle is on the back side of the base -- out of sight, but a little inconvenient. I haven't used that. The lamp is fairly large, as specified. I decided against cutting it down a few inches. That would be a project with an indefinite result, due to its construction. The base is about 8.5" in diameter, 1.5" high, and heavy enough to support the shade and arm fully extended about 45 degrees. If you lower it fewer than 45 degrees it will fall over. Arm adjustments at the base and in the middle require two hands. Adjustments at the shade can be done with one hand once you've adjusted the two phillips head screws just right. I considered alternatives priced at around $200, and though I might have admired those fixtures more, I think this will be an acceptable compromise for my use as spot illumination on my desk.Don't do any of the following unless the lamp is unplugged. I made the following correction to the assembly: the bulb receptacle inside the shade was loose, slightly dangling. It wasn't necessary to tighten it, but I don't like fixtures that feel cheap. To tighten it I had to remove a pair of small screws inside the receptacle, peel the felt back from the bottom of the base, and gingerly pull on the receptacle to get about six inches of the excess wire in the base up into the shade. This allowed me to access two nuts that secure the receptacle. After adjusting those nuts and threading on the fitting that the receptacle screws to I pulled the wiring back through the arms and into the base and reattached the base felt. Then I reinstalled the two small screws inside the receptacle and installed the bulb.

One issue with the lamp: The overall design of the lamp is the same, but the on/off switch on my lamp is on the lamp head. I am glad that these are for my desk and not my bedside table because having the power switch on the lamp head would be hard to reach, instead of where it was shown to be on the base in the product page's pictures. The USB port is on the front of the lamp with no black square cover, which makes it look nicer and prevents your finger from catching the metal edge of the port. It also had a really ugly sticker denoting the power specs under the usb port, which I took off.Otherwise, I love the lamp, it's beautiful. The base is heavy so it is not easy to tip over. It is easy to adjust it by unscrewing the wing nuts a little to adjust the arms and then tightening them back into place to make it fixed. Feels well made, the metal arms, lamp head, and base.One gripe about Amazon/whoever fulfilled the order. I ordered 2 at the same time and received one within 4 days of the order, the other one was "delayed" with no reason given.... Three weeks later, I ordered another and received it within 4 days placing the order. The delayed one still showed as delayed with no delivery date given. Don't know how that works, but sounds like someone dropped the ball. At least I was able to cancel the delayed one from the first order.

This is a good sturdy lamp. I just wasn’t happy with the bronze finish. It’s just not a great quality finish, but you get what you pay for and I guess I should have paid more at west elm or something. The black portion or the light is fine but the bronze is like someone spray painted it and not well. I may try to paint it better myself.I kept it because it fits well on the desk and does what I need it to do.

I didn't realize this lamp adjusts (tightens and loosens with a nut) at the 2 elbows. The head where the light resides is adjustable with no nut. The information may be in the description; admittedly, I did not read the description. Those type of adjustments are not an issue - just giving my fellow consumers a heads-up.I like 2 things about this lamp.1. The head of the lamp is not see through like plastic or a lamp shade.-The lamp sits on the table beside of my man-chair. I can easily flip it on and get the desired amount of light by simply adjusting the head of the lamp. If I want some light, but don't want it in my eyes, I can adjust accordingly. Without a see through shade, the light never has to be in my eyeballs. Light not in my eyeballs is desirable.2. It has a USB port in the lamp.-I can now plug in my cell phone to the lamp and charge my phone rather than having this cord going here and that cord going there. My man-chair sits off of the living room wall about 6 feet where there is no plug access other than from an extension power strip. I can sit in my man-chair with the phone plugged into my lamp and still use my phone as it charges (rather than plugging cord to power strip which makes the phone cord too short for me to actually hold the phone).Though my 11-year-old son tried to steal my new lamp as it was being unpacked from the delivery box, I put my foot down. This lamp is mine. He made me promise to get a lamp just like this one. Naturally, I told him he would have to speak with his mother about it. Crisis not only averted, but avoided as well.

It’s stable but a little light in the base so it la a little wobbly- and the one I received is not brass but “ brass painted metal” - it’s serviceable and works -aesthetically it’s very attractive- since it’s for a teens room the cost was not too bad- Amazon needs to do a sample check of merch lots to make sure descriptions are more accurate-

It arrived in good time so securely packaged that it took a very long time to open the box and release 2 large blocks of styrofoam that held the small parts that fit together. That was a bit tiresome, also more than annoying is that I will have to pay for 2x$ 4.25 garbage tags to be rid of the 2 large blocks of slightly crumbly styrofoam that are unacceptable to local recycling. I resisted cutting the blocks in half incase the bits flew all over my house- as stryrofoam has a tendency to do .Now to the lamp itself. It looks elegant and is very simple to put together BUT it really only works in one position as moving rods that activate the lamp head ( only capable ,as it turns out, of being either up or down- not side to side as would have been more useful) the position of the arms tend to affect the lamp's basic balance. Irritating Best leave it that it looks great , a handsome lamp ok for reading which is why I got it.

Tristemente, en mercados secundarios como México, estos productos llegan al mercado siendo que son dañinos. Amazon debería de retirarlos del mercado, o bien informar a los consumidores de los riesgos potenciales. Yo pedí mi reembolso y afortunadamente su Servicio al cliente fue bastante empàtico e solucionar el problema, a pesar de la negligencia de una de las personas que me atendió y que prácticamente no le importó los efectos que un producto de este tipo puede tener sobre las personas. Mal por Amazon, por vender estas cosas y tener ese tipo de personal en su Servicio al Cliente que siempre se ha caracterizado por ser de primer nivel y de los mejores. Ojalá retiren este producto inmediatamente de Amazon.

If you are looking for a lamp that actually stays in place and does not move one single bit once adjusted, this is the one you should buy. I’m using it as a grow light for my house plants. This is an excellent product

Mine came with the switch on the base of the lamp - which is exactly what I was looking for. It is larger and heavier than I thought but that's actually a good thing. I use the usb port to charge my phone every night. Overall review - very happy with this purchase.

I've received 3 so far. The first one was great but the other 2 are defective. The swivel adjustment has been assembled wrong from the factory. I tried to replace one but the replacement came defective also. The screw that the swivel arm goes into has been installed on the outside instead of the inside so the arm won't budge. I tried removing the screw but it won't budge either and i would just end up stripping the threads. I am phoning Amazon because their whole inventory is likely been assembled wrong 😬
