love it, all the good ones and more!

This 3-CD set is worth the price for the 3rd CD alone, if you're already an addicted JJ fan. This is a Netherlands release, produced in 2006, covering his first 11 studio albums, with 1 track from that "Closer To You" album.The selection of tracks across his influential early work is very good, and for me a good sample of the vinyl albums, though I do already have this on the excellent "Anyway The Wind Blows" anthology from 1997.After this, there are just 3 more studio albums, 1 live album, and the excellent collaboration with Clapton on "The Road To Escondido". It's uncertain if JJ's commercial popularity will be considered enough to produce one of those excellent Rhino posthumous anthologies, but I'd hope someone will consider his catalogue & his style significant enough to justify this.If not......then this collection might soon take on a greater significance as one of the few ways of collecting some of his rarer material.

As laid back as they come and a key influence on the careers of Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler to name but two musicians, this is a comprehensive resume of the career of an underrated and largely unappreciated artist.There is a comprehensive selection of tracks on offer here and while some of my personal favourites are not included that is no criticism. No compilation can please everyone and I reckon that this is about as good as it gets. I bought the vinyl version which looks and sounds great and comes with a booklet which I assume would also be provided with the CD version also. Truly brilliant and great on a summer's evening with a glass of your favourite tipple.

Just such a superb collection of songs and recordings. The third disc of "previously unobtainables" and various "versions of" is a series of real highlights for me - buy it for these alone! And then rock along to the other two great discs: as others have said, it is all just so well assembled and produced. Cale is such a special singer, musician and song writer, and this set is up there with the very best we have of the great man. He gave us 40 years of music. You can truly celebrate that great offering with this set of discs.

Great CD to get a flavour of this artist. Eric Clapton covers some of these songs so it is a fresh experience to hear the original artist.A great mixture of music over his lengthy career and with 60 tracks at a tenner you couldn't want for more.
