Rock Box

Ive read the other reviews for this set ,and in a way i agree with them.I know we all have opinions and i respect that,but i feel some injustice has been done to the atomic rooster set in this box.i think for a mainly solo effort this is a wonderful progressive album,taking in elements of the 70s in a 80s feel.And dont forget it has the god- like Dave gilmour on guitar!dont forget that as good as John ducann was,he was not on all of roosters albums.As for the rest of the box,BJH..wonderful...sham 69..still brilliant...wishbone ash still consistent...little river band..nice...mekon delta...ok in parts...uriah heep...ok..but i still favour the dave byron years...ian gillan always good....asia...good...but am i alone i liking the john payne version of this band...not so overblown...and lastly,the billy currie version of ultravox.Im going out on a limb here and say this is a fine album,but it was never gonna be "vienna" so in all a fine set by wonderful acts,cheap n all!

The previous reviewer has listed the tracks and he is absolutely right, the 10 albums don't necessarily make for a happy marriage (Asia and Sham 69?)That said, it is an interesting selection. These are my comments:Ultravox - this is Billie Currie's Ultravox. respectable effort but sounds a bit like a pastiche without Midge Ure. ***/5Wishbone Ash - this was previously released as the album 'Illuminations', which I believe had an extra three tracks. I know this album well - it is a corker. ****/5Uriah Heep - absolutely marvellous album and the best of the bunch here. Terrific songs, great vocals *****/5Atomic Rooster - just awful. John Du Cann was the songwriter behind AR and he isn't on here. */5Sham 69 - although rough around the edges, Pursey and Parsons have always written great music. Good songs with a story to tell. ****/5Asia - a very respectable live show - great songs and an adoring audience ***.5/5Mekong Delta - sounds like early Marillion with a punk attitude - too much for me to stomach i'm afraid **/5Ian Gillan Band - I have always loved this band - great musicians and classic sounds. ****/5Little River Band - enjoyable, easy going but unremarkable. ***/5BJH - lovely album, typical of their style. ****/5For the price and for the inquisitive, you can't really go wrong. Even if some of the recordings don't suit your taste, there is bound to be something here for most people.

very good selection,so glad i bought this, worth every penny,dont think, buy,somthing for everyone.

look at what you get for the priceUltravox not Midge Ure version but still decent music, same issue with Uriah Heep and Atomic RoosterBUTbands still produce good music without the members that made them even better than usualthese are all good albums from good bands well worth a listen
