Fun.
Well it's fun to watch but anyone with any experience will recognise Mumbai, right down to the old Fiat taxis and Mumbai number plates, and distinctive recognisable areas.Plus anyone who has ever lived in South Asia knows that the IT infrastructure just ain't that good, and is constantly monitored by the local cops. Satellite phones are illegal and if you're not part of the local security set-up you're probably toast if you use one...Still, technical stuff aside, everyone knows the story, and at least they don't show anyone being tortured for information and the film is entertaining and well acted...

This film is a distinct echo and visual realisation of the book, with both its strengths and its weaknesses. Unfortunately the mission to fly from Afghanistan into Pakistan, close in in on the target and carry out the military objective, does not take long enough for a feature film. While it is an authentic snap-shot of the US mission to kill Osama binLaden, the 'induction' and preparation to which the chosen operatives are subjected, not only takes a long time, it is uneventful and not very diverting. When the action is finally under way and the bin Laden compound comes under attack, the excitement ramps up. The only deviation from the book lies in the way the accidental downing of one of the helicopters within Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbotabad, the decision to destroy the wrecked aircraft by explosion, and the actual destruction itself, are dealt with in one brief shot of the downed helicopter becoming engulfed in a ball of fire, photographed from the air as the troops depart the scene. It was an historic event, perhaps more so to the American media that the European, and this film is a memorable recoird of it.

Very Interesting
Okay so what if there is a bit of American chest beating I found it very interesting and to say that they killed the monster behind the twin towers without harming unarmed women and children was no mean feat. The training that the serviceman undertook and the actual pressure on caring out such a high stakes job was very impressive.

very different to zerodarkthirty but another look at what might have happened but why did they dump the body and by doing that let all the conspiracy options go wild? do they really have him? why did so many seals die 12 weeks later in a helicopter crash? very dodgy!

Its a key piece of filmography but its script leaves you wanting
I was left a little deflated, not because I watched Zero Dark Thirty first, its because it is a little too disjointed for such an important episode to historically tell. I have to say with due humble respect to the tragic events that therefore led to this hunt, this film just doesn't really work script-wise. ZERO DARK THIRTY on the otherhand tells this hunt far far better and that is highly recommended. This film will fill in a few blanks for you though if you do watch it in the same order as me, and on that basis i'm happy to recommend. Andrew

Poor film - there is a better one!
This is a poor film. Much of the acting is very wooden. There are a lot of factual inaccuracies. The script is poor - at times, very poor. Even the film score is poor. A much better film is Zero Dark Thirty, directed by Kathryn Bigelow (director of Oscar winning The Hurt Locker). Although ZDT is a little tricky to follow during the first half, it is a much better movie in all respects and was nominated for several Oscars. Don't waste your money on Geronimo but do buy ZDT.
