Exactly what I wanted
Don't use these for hunting or fishing or hiking, so can't attest to how they'd work in those environments. I bought a house near my significant other's house (brick houses), and I got these in hopes that we wouldn't have to use the phone so much to communicate, and they work perfectly for that purpose. "Hey, what do you want for lunch? Going to the store, want to come with? Great TV show just started on my cable, wanna come watch it? Gee, I'm really not feeling well, can you get to the pharmacy for me? Gee, you gotta come look at this rattlesnake outside the fence!" I turn it on in the morning when I get up, and off when I go to bed, as does he. It takes about a week with that usage to need to recharge. And recharging usually takes an hour or less. Works great for us!

Surprising Range
I got these so my wife and I can communicate during bike rides. When one person is a head of the other, the only way to talk is to scream back and forth. This does the job just fine at a great price. We now use it almost daily around the house if one person is going to keep an eye on our toddler while the other is doing yard work or something. We were even able to keep contact from about 3 blocks away through houses in the neighborhood! I love the compact form and included belt clips too. The loud verbal alerts and beeps can be annoying but easy to forget when you realize the quality you're getting for the price. If you want features, you'll have to pay for a higher grade walkie, but this does everything we need it to.

Good buy for the money
Lot of interference and haven't found a channel yet that doesn't. But the communication is clear, the range is about 1/3 to 1/2 mile in a residential community and I feel it's a good buy at the price.

I was surprised when started using it. Sound quality is very good, battery life is also satisfactory.

Cheap but acceptable
Cheap plastic but I’ll say they are worth the 30$

amazing radios
i used them in a mine. hard rock, the signal bounced inside and bent around and around, out of line of sight. was very cool indeed to communicate around corners. line of sight with lots of wood timbers, the signal was not so good, in fact terrible, the wood absorbed the signal. you can not tell how much battery life you have and does not tell you when the battery is charged. or mine are defective.would buy again for the money.UPDATE: 6/2023. The directions are not very good. When you charge it, the red light comes on, off when charged, kinda obvious. when you turn it on and the battery is low, it will say check battery. the battery does seem to last a long time. As there is no battery monitor, i wish it did. no way to know battery level.

They don’t last & customer service doesn’t seem to care
It’s not often that I write a review but in this instance, I hope to save you all the trouble of wasting your money and time trying to work with Radtel’s customer service. Starting on the positive side, I love the size of these things. Perfect size to carry when skiing or boarding. When they work, it’s very easy to hear others and easy to use in general. Would be nice to have a call button, though. Onto the cons... I used the pair twice before one of them malfunctioned when trying to recharge. My best guess is it could not handle the cold weather I was in or they’re just poorly made. When I tried to reach out to Radtel customer service and explained that I tried their trouble-shooting tips, crickets….No response whatsoever. Amazon holds some responsibility in this as well, considering they partner with Radtel and have a garbage 30 day return policy for a device that most people probably won’t use at high frequency, so if they stop working after a few uses, they do not openly offer a return option beyond the 30 days. Some items make sense to have a return policy in 30 days, others do not. I recognize that may be a pain for a company to differentiate between items and their return policies but it’s going to be a pain to be a good company, sometimes. That’s was makes them different from companies that accept the minimum customer support, or in Radtel’s case, no customer support. Do better Radtel and Amazon. These little instances will add up over time if you do not address reasonable requests.

Fun Toy
Works great, and I played around with it. Only tried it at close range, within the home itself though. No idea if it works at longer range. Took 80 minutes to charge. Haven't tested how long the power lasted
