FEED is Delicious
I have this DVD in 4 versions. I started out with the US version where I live. Then I got a special 2 disc set from region 2, another great US version, now the UK version. I highly recommend the UK version, as it has a great commentary with the film and the deleted scenes by Brett Leonard, the director and producer of FEED.I have done reviews on the other versions, and I always speak highly of this incredible film. Alex O'Loughlin and Patrick Thompson, the 2 leads of the film, came up with the idea of a movie about "feeders and gainers", and took it to Brett. The result is an exciting and incredibly intelligent film which makes you think about what is "OK" between consenting adults. If you are buying FEED for the first time, I would recommend that you watch the extras first, especially the interviews and "FEED in Philly", to hear Alex O'Loughin explain how he came up with the idea for the movie. He did months of research on "feeders and gainers". He shines as Michael Carter, the feeder to Deirdre's gainer (wonderfully portrayed by comedic actress Gabby Millgate). Alex and Gabby play off of one another so well, and I love the way you find out from Brett in his commentary that they ad-libbed many of their scenes. Alex did all of his own stunts and his balcony leap is quite impressive. Alex is a brilliant actor - I discovered him on the show Moonlight and bought all of his work on DVD - TV and movies - and it is all outstanding. His career has taken off in the US, even after the ridiculous cancellation of Moonlight, and I am so glad that I discovered his work. The cast ensemble is outstanding, the writing is clever and intelligent, and I enjoyed the dark humor of the story throughout the entire film. One of the fun things about FEED is that from the very first scene you are riveted to the screen wondering what is going to happen next. It never disappoints.Another added bonus is the creative use of pop music. I will never hear "Cherish" and "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" without smiling and thinking of FEED, and to see Michael's (Alex) little dance to "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" is worth the price of the DVD alone.Buy FEED and watch it many times - you will always see something that you missed before. After you watch the movie, watch it with the commentary by Brett. Great fun to hear how each scene was done.

Thought Provoking
This is a good film for anyone who enjoys cat and mouse drama, but as many others have said it is not for the faint hearted. Some of the scenes are sickly to say the least, however the story and script are excellent as they highlight a part of the "sex??" industry which has not been tackled before by neither film makers nor, surprisingly, any major documentary makers - at least I haven't seen any that are worth noting until this. It is obviously low budget, but well made none the less and Patrick Thompson and Alex O'loughlin give stellar performances especially in the scenes where they are together, delivering their complex lines with perfect timing. This film makes you think about what the concept of physical attractiveness really is and has sparked many a debate with my family and friends.

An interesting menu
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERSAn Australian policeman Phillip Jackson(Patrick Thompson) whose speciality is cyber crime, discovers a web site that shows women being fattened for the members pleasure. Convinced that the women are being force fed, he traces the webmasters address to America, and travels there only to discover a truth more horrible than he could have imagined. This is a very enjoyable film, with quite a taboo subject matter, and a streak of cruel dark humour running through it. The comparisons between Jackson's abusive relationship with his girlfriend and the feeder/gainer relationship are well made, and the performances are genrally good if a little over the top at times. Theres much to enjoy as Jackson tracks his quarry down , but this is where the film really comes unstuck. The climatic scenes are completely overblown and melodramatic with some very long winded rants from the killer, although the sight of two men rolling around on a 6oo pound woman do reach a sort of kitsch majesty. I do like the little twist right at the end though. So a very interesting film, but not totally successful. Avoid if easily offended. 3 out of 5

Feed, not positive!
Well i was expecting to watch about a feeder and a feedee, hoping for reality, what i got was sick. this film has haunted my dreams for 2 weeks now. it is the most sick disterbing film i have ever watched, i head it mentioned on coronation street and was pleased that the concept of feeding had been brought to mainstream t.v. but they have done nothing positive, in fact damaged the concept of feedee/feeder relationship futher.not one for the faint hearted! not one for a feedee to watch, i'll stick to romcoms from now!

I might go on a diet....
Ignore the negative comments. It's not that bad!I bought this film on the cheap after a friend of mine said "ergh watch it, it's vile"If you are expecting gore, or some sort of horror this isn't it.Bloke - 2 lives, a wife, and on the sly feeds fat women til they pop and shows it all on the net while 'gamers' bet on them etc.Aussie police guy - Tracks sickos on the net and clamps down. Decides to go to the states to get this guy. Gets caught up in stuff. Decides to stay.Although film is based on true actions of what happens in real life, some of the plot isn't too realistic. It's enjoyable, the physco is easy on the eye, nice little twist at the end.Hmm it doesn't make me wanna eat a cheeseburger anytime soon though.

FEED is Delicious!
After discovering Alex O'Loughlin on Moonlight last year I was so impressed I immediately began to collect his previous work. I bought FEED first, and it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Alex came up with the concept of "feeders and gainers" and did months of research on the subculture. He co-created, co-wrote, co-produced and starred in the film, and his portrayal of Michael Carter showcases this Australian actor's incredible talent. His American accent is impeccable, and I have never seen an actor capable of expressing so many different emotions without ever having to say a word. The entire cast is outstanding - Gabby Millgate plays Deirdre, Michael's "gainer". She is a comedic actress, and she and Alex play off of one another so well. One thing I love about FEED is that it is a psychological thriller, but there is so much humor in the movie as well. If you like a bit of comic relief in your dramas, FEED has plenty of it. Just listening to Michael's rants to Phillip, the cyper crime specialist (played by Patrick Thompson) who is the so-called protaganist of the film is a delight. Michael may be considered the "villian" of the story, but by the end of the movie, I was so taken with his character, I was cheering him on. If there was ever a character who would be considered an "anti-hero", Michael would be at the top of my list. Some of my favorite parts of FEED are in the extras on the DVD - the deleted scenes, interviews with Alex and the producer, etc. I would recommend that anyone watching this DVD for the first time watch the extras first, especially the interview with Alex, where he explains how he came up with the idea of "feeders and gainers" and how he brought it to film. The soundtrack is wonderful - I will never hear "Cherish" and "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" again without thinking of FEED, and seeing Michael's little dance to "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" is worth the price of the DVD all by itself.I am impressed by the fact that this movie was made in 28 days. It is realistic, thought provoking and highly entertaining. The Australian film industry is apparently small compared to the American industry, but in my opinion, they do amazing work. Since seeing FEED I have watched other movies that Alex made before coming to the US and other Australian films as well - they have incredible talent in all aspects of filmmaking. After watching FEED check out the alternate ending in the extras. I would love to see it used as the opening scene for a FEED 2.Buy FEED - you will be glad you did.
