Drowning Mona [DVD]

Potential for great things but it never quite gets there. Assembled strong cast do their best and a few, Jamie Lee Curtis and Neve Campbell, are good but Bette Midler coasts in an "also stars" role and has done such far far superior stuff.. Some amusing one liners and a few amusing characters, like the rest of police chief de Vito's hapless squad. Casey Affleck (with bad blond wig) continues the Affleck's clan reliably wooden acting but a young looking Will Ferrell is funny and under used as the creepy funeral director and watch out for an early Melissa McCarthy appearance. Like the featuring of the Yugo car but its an aside and does not add significantly to the story line.

Its got a good story and is funny, although there are parts that do not work but I liked it, its more of a 3.5 starrs but I was in a good mood, if I was in a critical mood I mght have given it 3 stars

Drowning Mona DVD (5060092906777) from Boulevard Entertainment Ltd is not a good DVD release. According to IMDb the film is 1.85 : 1 but this release is 1.33 : 1 pan&scan. Also Boulevard has applied too heavy compression causing anomalies and macro blocking in the video plus unreadable text. There is only stereo audio available and no English subtitles.

Ok not one of Bettes best but I love her anyway

Sorry ---I thought this was just jumbled up nonsense.Glad when it finished..The good names in this film have just,well, wasted their time

very unusual film but was supprisingly enjoyable if you like stange films this one is for you.
