I shopped around quite a bit and did a lot of research before buying these speakers. I have to say now that I definitely made the right choice! The speakers were shipped in very secure packaging and I found the enclosed instructions very clear and helpful. The materials are high quality and the sound is wonderful! I use them in my office and they blend right in. They sound great at both low and high volume. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a quality pair of bookshelf speakers.

Crisp clear sound in a small package
The Allaire speakers have absolutely blown me away. From the highly polished exterior, to the crisp sound you’d expect out of a large stereo platform, these speakers have far exceeded my original expectations. Bluetooth connectivity is flawless, and it comes packaged with all the cables and connectors needed to plug into any about device.Sound is very clear. Surprisingly the low and mid range depth is greater than you’d expect out of this form factor. Loudness is not a problem either; there is no distortion even at max volume.I would highly recommend these to someone who craves high quality sound.

Great Speakers, Working Flawlessly with AirPlay
These are wonderful speakers. I am using them as AirPlay speakers, via an AppleTV and optical audio cable. However, they can also be used as bluetooth speakers, or with rca-inputs as audio sources. The audio quality is excellent. The remote feels substantial and comfortable in your hand, and as a bonus, the volume is controllable independently from the volume contols in iTunes. I initially tried a Homepod where these speakers are deployed, and spent hours trying to make them work with 2 separate itunes libraries, unsuccessfully. I had the Allaires up and running in minutes. I bought 2 sets of these in the past 2 weeks, for 2 different rooms. The price is reasonable, and Aperion's customer support is unsurpassed.

Utterly rubbish! I am from Europe, so I had to pay almost the same amount as the speakers themselves (on taxes + shipment) just to satisfy my curiosity and get these speakers.I played the 'Chesky Records - The ultimate demonstration disc' and the sound is terrible for the money (399$). I have a few ~130$ speakers around the house that are way better than these (For ex: an old 2.1 speaker system - Altec Lansing MX5021, some Chinese 2.0 speakers - Microlab Solo 6c).Long story short, if you are looking for sexy, compact Hi-Fi speakers that also have fancy features like bluetooth, there is NO such thing. For a small desk however, these speakers are not that bad, but definitely not in the 399$ price range, more like 50$.At one time, I opened my audio player, a Tom Waits song started playing and I thought to myself, hmm, at a low volume these speakers don't sound that bad...and then I noticed, the speakers were off and the song was playing from my DT 770-PRO headphones. After that, I just got sad.I am trying to console myself with the fact that these are ...pretty and are well build and fashionable. I mean, at least my girlfriend likes them.

You really need subwoofer to get the most out these. For whatever reason it felt like the optical had the highest output from the three inputs. I had it connected to my computer through optical and the volume was satisfactory, but failed to wow me. When i wanted to go higher speakers would indicate they were at their highest. This was a constant problem. When i connected multiple blue tooth sources the same song sounded about half as loud as it would through optical. Really frustrating. Even worse I bought a LP record player and the line-in input sounded 25% as loud compared to the optical. Hooked up my PC, my 3DS, my PSVITa and the max volume of the line-in was pathetic across all sources. I had to use my PC's Line-in that would go to the Allaires optical output to get anything remotely loud on the Allaires. Unless mine was a faulty unit, I repeat do not get these unless you plan on using the optical. They are pitiful on all other modes. For a bed room it was sufficiently loud, but on its own without a subwoofer the port chuffing is pretty evident. For a medium to large room i would look else wear. The remote is nowhere near 'executive'. The heft is just a holster for the cheapest Chinese LED remote starter kits remote controls you might be familiar with. The process of changing the battery could involve bending a thing metal wire if not really careful. My remote was compromised and I had to get up close to the unit to do any volume controls. After 3 months I could hardly get the Allaires to register a signal from the remote. I switched out like 10 batteries and couldnt get it to work. In desperation i contacted Aperion Customer service. Their rep told me the chuffing was normal for speakers that small. I felt like i was a "well what do you expect" type answer. Really dissapointing. Also told him i wanted to order the remote innards because I felt like my wires were too fatigued. Rep told me the removale innards of the remote were simply to change the battery, and were sold not on its own. (Here i thought this was clever design) If i wanted a new remote it would cost me $65 dollars, only they didnt have any more. Rep told me he would call me back when they got more and i left my number, but never got a call back. After having my dad who graduated in the 70s with an electronics degree resolder the cheap chinese wire that transmitted the signal on the remote that I started to get decent signal on remote around 9 months later. Also only thing holding the remote innards in place are some very sloppily glued magnets. After removing it multiple times the magnets got unstuck and I had to resort to using tape to keep the innards in the 'executive' remote. Also if you have tile or wood this remote will take off chunks out of your floor when it falls. Cant recommend at this price.

Nice Sound...but no ability to pair with universal remotes
The speakers sound warm and full, and they and set up easily. They are very well built. The remote is hefty. The supplied cabling is high quality. However, the speakers cannot be paired with a basic programmable universal remote because Aperion's bluetooth module supplier apparently does not use the Philips RC5 remote code protocol. If you will use the Allaire primarily as music speakers, then they are an excellent choice. We use these primarily to improve the sound of our flat screen TV, and since we are unable to change volume or power on the speakers using a basic universal remote furnished by our cable TV provider, these are likely going back. This lack of feature is why I rate them three stars rather than four stars.Look at Q Acoustics BT3 as an alternative.
