If you've read other books by this author ,and enjoyed them, Ultimate Power will be reassuringly predictable from the outset.I have read the preceding nine books and found them all interesting in different ways and this book is no exception.

Thriller with a difference
Whilst I have enjoyed my first ever Stephen Frey book. In the beginning I found it quite hard to follow. It took me a few chapters to understand the story. Perhaps that is the beauty of an actual book rather than a digital one. One can flick back and forward if you don't remember who is who. Ultimately a good book.

Not great.
This is a strange one to review because as much as I liked some of the characters, including Falcon, Troy, Billie and President Hilton and the free flowing chapters involving the aforementioned, I just found that there was too much going on at once for a 300 page book and it seemed to take me a good 50% of the novel to get to grips with all the characters in the story due to the amount of characters that were being thrust in front of us.That said the ending was brutally exciting and for me saved the book at least one star.

Exciting read, just gets a bit bogged down in the middle
I enjoyed the book. The beginning and the end were by far the best bits. I do think that there were far too many characters to keep track off, not helped by the short chapters darting around between the various threads of the story. It all gets a bit bogged down in the middle, but then picks up rapidly to a fantastic ending.

You need to concentrate...
Ultimate Power’ was a book about a power struggle. It was a intense, fast paced action filled yet complex read. Only read if you’re in the mood to concentrate because there is a lot going on, and you have to concentrate..A.J. Falcon has just become the youngest partner of the Sutton Group - the youngest hedge fund manager to make partner at this prestigious Wall Street firm. It comes with a price that may turn out to be too high for the privilege. His 16 year old niece is kidnapped and everything he does from now on is to get her back.Unknowingly, he stumbled upon a "conspiracy” tied to the US government - a rogue faction is manipulating the American people to establish a new order. In the process he finds that someone on Wall Street is supporting racial riots all over the US. And this conspiracy has reached the highest order - even The President is involved by cutting the military and increase taxes for the rich. I must admit to having a challenging time getting into this book. Financial world becomes an aside, I thought the book would get into a financial conspiracy tied to the manipulation of stocks or hedge funds. Actually it had very little to do with it, it’s the abduction of his niece which is what drives Falcon. The plot does widen to include ex-members of a crime family, some heinous military personnel and awful racial plots... like I said it’s complex.Getting past some of the seemingly random scenes - ‘Ultimate Power’ was a book about a power struggle. A book about trying to change America, and a book about the ultimate sacrifice for a job.If you enjoy thrillers that involve financial thrillers, mystery, crime, kidnapping, military involvement, & technology - you'll probably enjoy this. If scenes of rape or conspiracy theory based novels bug you - skip it.

disappointed
having read a number of this authors books, this one , in my opinion, was not up to his usual high standard. plot a bit messy, and confusing at times.
