Staying Connected to Your Teenager, Revised Edition: How to Keep Them Talking to You and How to Hear What They're Really Saying

This book was recommended to me, but I was hesitant, as there are SO many parenting books out there, and many of them transactional (just do this and problem solved!) rather than transformative. I decided to borrow it from the library to read just in case it wasn't a fit. By chapter 2 I put down the book, picked up my phone and ordered my own copy from Amazon.This book is written in a non-judgemental and even humorous way that helped me see myself and my teenagers in the examples, which sets things right up for growth in his suggestions. And yes, there are "suggestions" of ways to approach a situation, what to look for, words to try. I called my husband into the room several times to read excerpts because they so closely resembled our teenage kid interactions.With much gratitude for writing this book!!

If you've been a parent of a teenager, you might find that you'd like to borrow some points from this book to keep a good communication with your kids. Strongly recommend!

Written for an American audience, it's same old and frankly just don't bother reading it as whilst some of it resonates most of it is based around the unformed adolesonce brain - so remember that and learn to understand your teenager isn't thinking like you or rationally.

Very good book, especially for most normal teenager behaviour, even slightly problematic behaviour. However, for serious behaviour problems, ingrained defiance and aggression, you may need more. Very good book to start from.

Das es zu einem meiner Lieblingsbücher nun nach soviel Jahren eine Fortsetzung gibt, dazu noch gut geschrieben, schade das es nicht in deutsch erhältlich ist. ABer vielleicht übersetzen die Damen bei Krug und Schadenberg im Verlag doch noch.
