A great product at a great price.
Works very well. The hardest part of using it is figuring out how long to actually cook the eggs. They give a guideline on the box it ships in, but it's not exact. You need to start out with a low number and bump it up until it cooks the eggs the way you want. The box guidelines are a good starting point. I'd recommend doing one egg at a time until you find the "sweet spot". The super nice thing about this product is that you do not need to pierce the yolk. Just put the eggs in, and microwave. Just be careful. Do NOT grab hold of that thing right away. it can be quite hot to the touch. Also, the water you put in it will be very hot, obviously. You can get burned if you are not careful. My recommendation is to let it sit a bit to cool down. Also, putting the eggs in tap water at room temperature is helpful. Nice gadget for the price, and it's a lot more efficient than heating up the stove.

Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs in 8 Minutes!
It's a little embarrassing how inordinately happy this hen egg cooker makes me.First off, it's so darned cute and I like just looking at it. It's smaller than I expected (good) and doesn't take up all that much space, which is a selling point for those who hate unitaskers. It seems well-made and is easy to carry by the little tail feathers handle.Second, it does a great job making hard-boiled eggs in a relatively short period of time. I don't do anything special, just add water to the fill line, put 4 eggs in the indentations in the metal tray, seal it up (with the little clasps), and pop it in the microwave for 8 minutes. Voila, perfect (and I do mean perfect) HB eggs!I also wanted to note how easy it is to peel eggs cooked in this cooker. The shells just slide off like a charm without needing to run them under water. I've never had the egg stubbornly stick to the shell. If I used a pan on the stovetop, I'd still be waiting for the water to boil at this point and the eggs might not even come out as consistently good as they do in the cooker. Plus, after popping the egg cooker in the microwave, I can walk away without worrying that I'll forget to check on them (been there, done that). I also like that I can make only 1-4 eggs at a time, so I can pretty much just quickly make a few at a time only as needed. If I need more, I can have a second batch ready in a jiffy. (And did I mention the cute little hen? lol)

Shells peel perfectly!!! I am impressed. So easy for multitasking in the morning.
I just bought this & used it for the first time. I agree with others that it was kind of hard to open at first. I used grip pads to turn it open. I put my egg in for 10 minutes & it came perfectly cooked, hard boiled. The shell cracked a bit but it peeled beautifully; I always have a hard time with water boiled eggs. Yes, you have to careful & let it cool down because it will be very hot; use a dish towel/oven mitts to remove from microwave. I love this though! No messing with boiling water etc. It's perfect for making eggs in the morning, just pop in the microwave, Go take a shower/ get dressed etc & eggs are done when you come back.

Works Perfect, until it starts exploding eggs
** EDIT: Downgrading to 1 star because eggs keep exploding. This worked fine a few times but now almost everytime either the egg explodes violently or it cracks up and all the insides ooze out.Dangerous because a couple of times the microwave door also burst open, and boiling water was everywhere along with the super hot innards of the egg. Lucky no one got burned.RETURNING IT(ORIGINAL REVIEW): Boils the eggs perfectly in 7 minutes, I usually boil only 1 or 2 at a time. So it does it's job nicely and is not too pricey. As a bonus, this item is of Decent quality and looks good. My little kid loves the hen shape.

Quicker and easier way to have boiled eggs!!!
Works great! I was really missing the quick egg cooker I had used for several years. Already used this new one several times in just a few days. Very pleased with results. No directions included for cooking time or water fill but I had read the reviews, found the cooking and water directions online and made a copy. The cooking time will need to be lowered if microwave is higher watts than 1000. Also I let my eggs sit in cooker for few min when cooker finishes then run cold water over egg/eggs and the shell is easy to peel. This is a great time saver, the lid latches on both ends, the design is cute and the price is unbeatable!

Grea idea, design sucks!
Great idea, works great, poor design. Since it is shaped like an egg is is very smooth plastic, it it nearly impossible to get the lid off. I finally used a fingernail file and roughed up the plastic on the top and bottom to provide grip. I also use those little rubber things you use to get a grip on a jar lid. It worked great for me. No exploding eggs. I left it in the micro for approx 5 minutes when it was done to cool then removed it and let it sit for another 10 mins or so to cool. I then carefully removed the top while holding the bottom level on the counter. Put the eggs in a bowl for a cold water bath and dumped the hot water out. The metal lining in the top comes out so you can wash the entire inside. It really just needs dried as the eggs did not explode. I love it except for the design with no grips. Shaped like an egg is cute but square would work much easier in the opening and closing the screwed on lid.

Safer and faster than boiling in a pan of water on the stove.
Have to believe I was skeptical this could work, decided the reviews were credible, bought one.First time I tried it worked perfectly. Four eggs were hard boiled just right.Much safer than putting eggs in a pan, turning on the stove, then having to remember to turn the heat off at a set time. Way to easy to forget you are boiling eggs, boil out all the water. I also have cats which like to get up on the kitchen counter, concerned about having an open flame, boiling hot water.I put in the right amount of water, eggs, set the microwave timer, wait until the microwave timer beeps. What could be simpler and safer?Do not try and pick up the egg with your bare hands as it is very hot to the touch.
