GREAT POOPS! Believe these helped with constipation and diarrhea (IBS Sufferer here)
These are supposed to help get your bowels functioning a bit more normal from what I've read and it did exactly that. Had diarrhea or very loose stool (sorry to be graphic but this is the GI for ya), within within about 48 hours had a very nice solid bowel movement and have been taking them for about a week and every bowel movement has been solid, well formed, smooth and comfortable. I started doing 4, 3 times a day for a couple days but have forgotten a couple times and realized I just need to do 2-6 or so daily, spread out between meals and away from other vitamins or medications. For the past week or so I've had great bowel movements. Had two days where I was a bit constipated but I think it was just from eating out but then today it once again was still a great BM, well-formed, solid. Not hard and painful like those of you have had constipation know of.I have been diagnosed with IBS/functional abdominal pain and some gastritis. I do think when I first take these they irritate the stomach a little because I'll get some mild discomfort but seems that once things calm down after an hour or so and these start to leave the stomach, then they go to work in the intestines. I think they still may overall help my stomach as well but there is just a little minor irritation pain I've noticed for the first 30 minutes or so after I take them for some reason but the bowel movement benefits (the BMB) are easily worth it. You can learn a lot from your BM's and it's great to look down at the potty and see a gorgeous turd. Now slippery elm is a "natural" medicine so always be cautious and careful and take it slow, I had taken these before about a year ago so went straight into a higher dose but best to start slow and see how it feels but also give them a little time. It wasn't instantly helpful after 12 hours or even 24, was about 48 before I was like okay this is helping. But for some it may be slower. Also again this can interfere with other medications' absorption so take away from meals and meds.Hope this is helpful!

Thank you, Nature’s Way, for providing optimal dosage info!
I am suffering symptoms of duodenal ulcer and am treating it myself, if I can, to avoid the standard treatment of traditional medicine for this condition - NOT because I am against traditional medicine in general, only because the treatment for this has side effects that are undesirable for me. If it comes to that, I’ll do what I have to do, but if there’s a simpler safe treatment I’ll try that first. So I had gotten another brand that said to take one 400mg capsule 3 times a day. I had also bought 3 other supplements. I wasn’t getting the results I wanted so I sat down and tested which ones were more healing for me at this time. (I have friends who do muscle-testing successfully but I have never been able to do that, so I made up my own testing mechanism.)The Slippery Elm ranked highest for me, with Pepzin GI coming in second. So I focused on using these 2.With limited results I decided to do more research right here on Amazon reviews because something needed to be tweaked. That’s when I noticed that some people mentioned taking FOUR at a time! I rechecked my bottle. It said one. I checked Nature’s Way and it said 4!So I quadrupled my dosage and ordered more of this brand because at that rate I was going to run out fast! That did the trick! The Slippery Elm protects my stomach lining which gives relief to the pain, along with managing my food intake. I also take the Pepzin GI for healing the ulcer and have ordered silver water which should arrive today. The side effects I’ve noticed were: 1) uncomfortable feeling in my stomach an hour later which is completely relieved by belching; 2) I seem to be in need of a little more calcium now so I upped my dose of L-Lysine to help with calcium absorption.

LOVE, LOVE
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! I suffer from GERD and after hearing the negative side effects from taking PPI's I was thrilled to find that Slippery Elm helped acid reflux and GERD. I bought it at a grocery store to try it and it helped immediately. The instructions say to take 4 capsules 3 times a day but I only take one first thing in the morning and one before bed. If I need to, I take one in the afternoon. With research I found that it could interfere with the absorption of medication so it should not be taken within two hours of taking medication. The bottle does not say this so just be aware. I ordered some for my mom too and she stopped the PPI's after taking them for 3 years. She does not have heartburn any more as long as she takes the slippery elm. She takes three a day, one in the morning, one at lunch and one at night. For both of us, this has been like a miracle pill. My life is back to normal, only occasional heartburn or acid reflux now because slippery elm stimulates the nerve endings in your stomach to produce the mucous necessary to protect it from the acid that is also produced. Whenever I get that burning or painful feeling I take one and in 10 minutes I have relief. I can pretty much eat what I want, but I know I may have to take an extra one if I eat spicy food or drink a Diet Coke. It's truly amazing! Research for yourself before taking for your own peace of mind.

Very therapeutic for sore throat due to LPR/GERD.
These are big capsules that normally work for me. I just drop two in a cup of hot green tea and after 5 minutes give it a good stir and drink it slowly.I have been using this same product for 3-4 years with good results. This time it doesn’t seem to be working as well, maybe due to a different problem in my throat. This time I have an itchy throat and a cough whereas normally it’s just sore due to GERD. Hope this helps.
