Shortlived Delight
I was initially delighted when upon landing in Shanghai, the SIM card connected to China Unicom and I could enjoy Google, Facebook, Youtube as advertised in my first couple of days in the city. The trouble started when I moved inland to Wuxi. The next day, the SIM card failed to get internet access although one could see that it was still actually connected to Unicom. Together with a local colleague, we went to the Unicom office to try and solve this issue, only to be told that the pre-paid card was limited to Shanghai and could not be used once we move to a different city (I am not sure that is the real reason it failed to function). Apparently the rules in China about pre-paid cards from outside of the Middle Kingdom have changed over the last one year. So I had to throw this card away, and obtain a local card (with great difficulty) with no access to Google, Facebook, or Youtube.

Can't access Gmail or Facebook as advertised.
It is the same as any SIM card sold in China. I can't access Gmail, Facebook as advertised, extremely disappointed. I am using a Galaxy S8 and I had to enter the APN as provided to get the data plan to function at all. Keep in mind also that this is just for data access, you won't get a phone number or be able to make phone calls.
