Is the white (or light color) jacket see through or fairly thick?

This jacket has become a favorite in a very short time. It is thick but very light weight and cool. I wear it in Boston in January over T'neck, heavy sweater and scarf on a sunny 45 degree day. I bought 2 sizes bigger so it would go over 2 layers. Nothing shows through.

Does it have pit zips?

No venting zips. Just a solid, really warm jacket.

Will the hood fit over a helmet?

Yes, the hood fits over my helmet. I love this jacket.
