1 x Bag of Dalefoot fine wool seed compost peat free: 12 litre

A great peat free compost for seeds. A fine graded dark and rich compost made without peat but using wool and bracken. The seeds I have planted in it seem to be doing well - See Images - and I am very pleased with the results.

I aim to be a peat free gardener but I am absolutely rubbish with seeds. Last year I tried again using Dalefoot Seed Compost for sweet peas and succeeded, so I am sticking with the product and buying again. It's not just environmentally friendly due to not consuming peat, it requires less watering.

I wanted an alternative to the usual peat based compost so thought I'd give this a go & have been impressed so far, if anything I think it's better, drains well but also has good water retention so less chance of seedlings drying out quickly & dying off. Planted quite a few seeds just over a week ago & all have germinated & are thriving so far, can't ask for more than that!Edit much as I like this compost & have found it good in the past my last couple of bags have been teeming with fungus gnats, so much so that I have now switched back to another brand.

All seeds in trays with this compost dampened off, however the ones wher I had used my own garden soil in are still ok. I am not sur e why this years batch is no good, I bought this product in 2022 and loved it but now it just cost me a fortune in seeds.

This compost has the most gorgeous texture, colour and smell! I could almost eat it .... and I am looking forward to my seedlings looking extra special after their luxurious start! The only drawback is the comparatively high price so I am eking it out to make it go further.

I haven't used this product yet but I'm hoping it will help produce some lovely potatoes. It's been recommended in various sites lately, so I'm confident its going to work and I'm looking forward to trying it. I like the fact that it is peat-free, which is good for the planet. Great delivery too.
