Amazing cheap DAC
Sound Quality is FANTASTIC. I wasn't expecting too much considering it's pricepoint, but once I set it up (change the filter from the default 3 to 6 TRUST ME) and dialed in the rest of the settings and loaded up my FLAC files, plugged in my Sennheiser HD598CS I was floored by how well this performs! Music sounds crisp and full and the volume goes all the way to maximum without distortion. This is all without even mentioning the build quality, it feels solid but not heavy and the knob has a solid tension to it both in terms of actuation as well as turning it left and right, setup was stupid Easy and switching from my PC speakers to headphones is intuitive and easy, this is a fantastic entry to mid level DAC and I couldn't recommend it more!Bonus points for the RGB ;)

Sleek, powerful DAC/amp with both balanced and unbalanced output
Looking for a combo DAC/amp for your cans? Look no further. The FiiO K11 has clean sound and oodles of power all packed into a sleek form factor, outperforming its brothers K5 Pro and K7 in cost, and in my book, appearance as well, being a snazzy addition to any desk. With both a 1/4" unbalanced and 4.4mm balanced output at $130, it is a considerably better deal than the $200 K7, unless you need... Whatever it is that the K7 has over this. A little bit more power, or a bigger knob, I guess.I've tested the K11 with a suite of Sennheisers (598, 600, 660S2, 800S) as well as the Dan Clark Audio Aeon Closed X. Regardless of whether the balanced or unbalanced output is used, there is no noticeable noise floor, no noticeable coloration of sound, and everything gets as loud as it needs to with plenty of headroom to spare, even accounting for -10dB of preamp for EQ.The K11 has an easy-to-use menu you control via the volume knob and the screen on the front. But if you don't want any visual clutter, you can configure the screen timeout period to be anywhere from infinite to as short as 1 minute, meaning you can make it always remain dark as long as the volume knob remains untouched. The K11 also has RGB capabilities via the FiiO logo on the top, but if you find RGB stuff gaudy, it's easy to disable RGB entirely via the menu. That leaves only the FiiO logo itself, which looks fine as-is, but you could always pull a Zeos and cover it up with an anime sticker. There is one important caveat that must be mentioned: *If you connect the K11 to a Windows PC via USB, the Windows OS volume control will not work for this device!* The Windows volume OSD will pop up, but it will not actually change the volume, with volume control only being possible via the knob on the K11 itself. Now, this *would* be a dealbreaker for me, but thankfully, this issue is not present when connecting the K11 via optical cable. With optical, the Windows volume control works as expected and the K11 volume and Windows volume can be controlled independently. I emailed FiiO support about this issue and they said they would pass it along to the engineering team, but it remains to be seen if anything will ever come of that. So, if you can only connect the K11 to your PC via USB, beware. That's all that needs to be said. As long as the USB issue doesn't bother you, this is a DAC/amp that can power essentially any headphone, has best-in-class looks, and doesn't break the bank. What more can you ask for?

Endgame gear for most, amazing value
This is a wire with gain. Mine came with firmware v125. Sound can now be somewhat controlled through Windows in USB mode. Firmware v125 has filter number 3 as default. As for the DAC part of the deal, it blows onboard sound implementations out of the water, even the ones from high end motherboards. It also blows the old Xonar DX / STX dedicated sound cards from last decade out of the water. Those were CS4398 (the CS43198's grandpa, this is what the K11 is built around) and BB PCM1792A, great parts. As for the amplifier part of the deal... with the balanced output, it drives my HD650s to ear damaging sound levels in high gain mode. It could easily be run in low gain mode for most modern content that's loud and compressed by default. Middle gain is a good middle ground.Go get a balanced cable if you have one of the 300 ohm Senns, it's worth it. For other cans the single ended output is more than enough. The complete package is outstanding. Sound quality is amazing. For music and movies, you get detail, dynamics, engaging presentation, speed. Not dull at all. You will hear it all as it was recorded in all its glory. If it was recorded good it will be amazing. If it was recorded bad it'll be bad. You can't polish a turd. I'm using filter 6 (no filter). For gaming (CS2, for example) the presented image is expansive and accurate (and this also applies to music). You will have no issues pinpointing where the other players (or instruments) are around you.The price/value is amazing. I firmly believe this K11 right could be considered endgame gear for most. I don't know how much better things can get in both DAC and amp departments over $129, if they ever do.FiiO really outdid themselves with this little beast, and the K11 is just the entry level product from the new generation.Oh, and when you read in reviews that the HD600/HD650s don't have a ceiling and they keep scaling and scaling with better gear, that's completely true. Now I wonder how much more those headphones can do...

Great and Budget Friendly
Needed a DAC/Amp combo for my Sennheiser HD560s since they weren’t loud enough when plugged into my motherboard. Also using them for my Edifier R1280DB speakers in order to direct connect via RCA instead of Bluetooth since there was noticeable input lag when connected by BT. This DAC does the job and both are sounding crisp and clean. Easy to install and use, plus it’s a bonus it looks great on my desk. Highly recommend!
