Q: Does it include safe select or plus and if not, can they be added?

Yes both the Ranger and Super EZ have a "safe" select switch. When turned on, the plane will only bank a maximum of around 30 degrees, it will not over pitch down or up. This keeps it very stable for a beginner pilot. If you get the RTF version, it comes with it's own very basic white colored transmitter which has a three position switch, the positions are: 1) full safe select. 2) basic gyro stabilization 3) off. In the basic gyro stabilization, the plane will smooth out roll, pitch and yaw attitude because it will counteract the effects of turbulence, wind gusts, motor torque etc. However, it will allow the pilot to fully roll, pitch or yaw the airplane as much as they want without any limits (as safe select has). Thus the pilot can fly a full loop or roll the airplane full 360 degrees or pitch straight up or straight down! In the "Off" position, all the gyro functions are disabled and it will fly completely by pilot control only. It is a very nice to have these three options of gyro assistance. As you progress and you want to use a more advanced transmitter, you can still use all of the gyro functions if you like. You would route the new receiver's servo wires into the Reflex unit instead of directly to the servos. That is what I did with my Super EZ and it works like a charm. BTW, the Super EZ and the Ranger are very similar and use the same radio, Reflex gyro system etc, they even both come with floats! I would think the Ranger will be a bit easier to taxi and fly because it has tricycle type landing gear with a nose wheel ( the Super EZ is a tail dragger).
