Cool knife, broke
I got this for my son. He absolutely loved it but, The screws came undone and it broke.

The Original Fidget Spinner
I’ve always been intrigued by the Balisong since seeing it in the movies as a kid. There’s something about the almost choreographed movements of the wielder, just like Nunchaku or a Bow Staff. One of my MAIN hesitations for picking one up, besides the potential legality in the state I live, has always been the Guaranteed injury to myself. So stumbling across this trainer model on the Marketplace put (both) those worries to rest. The Balisong arrived very quickly in a fairly standard box with the trainer itself inside. Having a look over I was initially pleased with the weight, solid construction, and addition of a spring loaded catch. Having messed around with a few (dull) Balisongs in the past I went after trying a few moves I remembered and was IMMEDIATELY pleased that the blade wasn’t sharp. Over the subsequent days I toyed with it on and off in my spare time and get more and more comfortable. Unlike the old days, we got YouTube to refer to in order to learn new techniques. For just $8.99, I’m pretty happy to have it around to fidget with. I think the manufacturer missed an opportunity, shoulda called this the Caterpillar as it’s a Butterfly in Training

Fell apart
The media could not be loaded. Halfway into using this thing, the vote handle fell completely off.

Neat way to practice safely with a butterfly knife
I think it's neat when watching a movie where someone pulls one of these knives out and starts flipping it about. I wanted to try one out for myself one day, but some practice style knives I've seen before were a wooden style. They just didn't feel right with the lack of weight on them. When I came across this trainer knife, I was happy to know that I finally had a knife that felt better in my hand. It was also a comfort to know that I wouldn't cut my hand to pieces trying to learn how to use it either. This knife has a decent length on it, feels solid with some weight on it, and the skull patterns on the handles add some character to it as well. The latch holds the knife comfortable within itself, until you flip it out. Then you can go to town with practicing, or impress those around you. Once you're finished, fold it back onto itself, and latch it back up for the next time. This is a neat way to get some practice in with using this style of knife. There are plenty of resources available to help learn how to use it, and with this trainer knife, you have a great feeling knife to learn with.

Not bad
So, I've definitely spent more for worse. I've gotten a few other Good Worker balisongs that actually flip extremely well, and they held up very well and can be maintained. However, this one isn't quite as nice... The balance is off, so more advanced flipping is a bit awkward. The handles are a bit short, like other GW balis, but they still perform ok. This one also had a slightly rougher edge around the scales. Still, it's grippy, and gosh, the price! You couldn't get a knock off 42 for three times the cost of this back in the day. So, while it's not 'great,' it's really, really not bad for the money.

Keeps falling apart.
Right away, this started falling apart. We had to rig it to keep it together. It works great now though. If we're talking quality vs price, it's definitely worth buying but there are much nicer and more reliable ones out there. Plus even though it's a trainer, it still hurts like hell when it hits your nuckles. Me personally, I wouldn't recommend it but if it's all you can afford, it'll do.

Good for a starter
It's a good starter. It does wobble a bit and is not able to be tightened, so it won't last all that long. I'm not disappointed as it was for my 10yo son.
