Multiprens DOTTRI Emergency Roadside Folding Warning Triangle Reflector (D.O.T. Approved)

Acquired these when I began towing an enclosed car trailer. Although the tow vehicle is licensed as an automobile rather than a truck, I believe it is important to be seen by other motorists. These triangles have considerable weight in their base, so they are certain to remain upright even in the strongest wind. Also, they collapse and fold easily so they can be returned to the carrying case which is very well made.

Sturdy enough to work when needed. Container is thin plastic - does not hold shape so I can only get 2 of the three latches to close. Disappointed that the base is sand filled plastic. Have a different set with a metal base. I'm sure they are fine for as much as I will use them (hopefully never). Not professional use quality.

I had the opportunity to use these on a very windy day (~7 - 10mph winds) when a tire on my horse trailer blew out. Being on a very busy interstate with 4 lanes of traffic traveling ~80mph and my horse in the trailer, I was happy to have them. I kept eyeing them at first because I was sure they were going to blow over, but they didn't. Knowing that, I was able to focus on quickly getting my new tire on and out of harm's way. My only compliant is that for the price, the box latch needs to work a bit better. The plastic is a little flimsy and pressing the latch to close the box results in no leverage to push against.

2am, pulling our Airstream over the Oregon coastal range trying to avoid a massive wind storm busy arriving, we encountered a massive downed tree blocking the entire highway. I had to brake hard because it was a blind corner combined with blind hill. Jumped out, ran to the back of the airstream and grabbed these triangles.I didn't have time to assemble them when a semi came over the hill. Running towards it I was waving the triangle and he stopped just in time. I arranged them with the furthest one far back to warn other cars as they mounted the blind hill.They worked like a charm and may have saved a multiple vehicle pileup from happening. They're large, highly visible, do not blow over in strong winds and are about as compact as they can be for the size and weight. My only complaint is that getting them back in the box after using them is an IQ test that I constantly fail.5 stars and just ordered these again for a second vehicle our company has.

These are made so cheaply I have great concerns of the would last a one time use.

The base stability is exactly as advertised and visibility day and night meets all DOT requirements for reflectivity. Unfolding and re-folding the triangles is not 'intuitive' by any means. And the case they come in is not quite as sturdy nor does it like to close and stay latched. But for the price, since it's a use it seldom product (knock wood), it is perfect and does indeed meet all DOT requirements. Only used them twice, which of course is twice too many times, but having them raised my comfort level about working on a tire change on the shoulder of a busy road.
