Hostess HT6020 Cordless Hot Tray, Stainless Steel, 800 W, Silver [Energy Class A]

As it has an 800W element, it gets very hot very quickly (I would have preferred the thermostat to be sety at a lower temperature. We used it for the first time last night and turned it off when we started the meal, but it cooled down too quickly; we have learned a lesson to give it a heat boost after 20 minutes and then it should be fine. The instructions came with a warning that sliding plates over the surface can scratch it, and yes, the warning is true.My preference would have been to have a lower wattage heater, like the earlier Hostess's that had a glass top and wooden handles, they were far better and the glass was also easy to clean and didn't get scratched. The plastic handles are strong; they will NOT easily break.However, we have no regrets about buying it, and would recommend it, but bear in mind the points above.

There is nothing wrong with the usage of this item however the only reason I have not returned it is that I need it tonight for a birthday meal for my wife.The top plate is dinted in 4 places and has scratch marks which show on the polished surface.The dints are from the inside suggesting the item might have been roughly handled.

Good value for money and with the size of just 2 table mats still just gives us room for 10 around our table for 6. It may be fully charged after 8 minutes but it takes longer than that for the top to reach max temperature so I put it on in plenty of time, I also pre warm any food containers in the oven before putting them on the warmer. As others have commented the top marks quite easily, small scratches, the steel is obviously quite soft but I bought it to keep food warm not as a piece of furniture.

Lovely tray to keep your meals for two and takeaways from going cold. The tray takes 4/5 items and warms the plates whilst you are cooking the meal. Looks and fits nicely on the table. Takes about 10 mins to heat up and the light tells you when it's ready. Only thing s that it does not keep the heat evenly distributed for more than thirty minutes and starts to go cold at the ends first. What I do now is keep it plugged on for the whole length of the meal, but you will need and extension cable as the one provided will not stretch that far. But still a very good purchase, glad I bought one.

This has replaced my Salton glass top hot tray (no longer available and probably contravening safety regulations nowadays!) which gave me excellent service for 40 years before becoming unreliable! This new one does not look as good and does not keep the food as hot either. The plates get hot enough but this does not seem to transfer to the food as well as the Salton did. A bit of a disappointment then but better than nothing.update 5/2/17 I am not surprised it is no longer available. I have given up on it and am looking for a replacement. Plates seem to get hot enough, at least in the middle, but does not keep the food hot at all. Today I left plate on till pretty hot, put bacon on it for 10 mins while doing something else. Served bacon, and it was cold! Rubbish item Hostess! Gets easily marked, permanently, too.

Excellent product - Does not take long to warm up and retained the heat well when unplugged. You can leave it plugged in but it is reccomended in the instructions for no longer than 2 hours. It does keep the temperature constant when plugged in too. Has two lights (no on/off switch or regulator) red for power indicator which stays on while plugged in and green light when temperature reached. Both lights are out when unplugged. Temperature cannot be regulated but heat retained very well for duration stated when unplugged. Looks good and feels fairly robust too. Very pleased with it

Bought this for Christmas for keeping food hot absolutely fantastic. Just plug in heats within 5/10 minutes, Does get really hot so mind not to touch it, and after use turn off and stays hot for an hour. To clean just wipe over.
