USB3.1 Type C OTG Adapter, USB C Female to Micro USB Male OTG (On the Go) Converter Data Sync Adapter for S7,S7 Edge, LG G4, Nexus 6 (Silver-OTG)

I have learned the hard way that type C to micro B adaptors come in two versions. Some have simple straight through connections and others, like this one, have an additional link between the 'ID' pin and 'ground' pin on the micro B connector. This link instructs the phone or tablet to source power out of its socket. This allows the phone to supply power to peripheral devices like memory sticks or cameras (The OTG standard).This adaptor cannot therefore be used to connect a charger to your phone because it sets the phone to source power rather than accept it and there will be a conflict. Both would be trying to push power into the other. If you are lucky they will just get very hot but in any event the phone will not charge. To charge the phone you need the version without the link. Tip: Adaptors with the link are usually referred to as 'OTG compatible'.Similarly if you want to plug in a memory stick, camera etc you must use an OTG compatible adaptor like this one (i.e. with the link) otherwise your peripheral will remain unpowered and will not work.When connecting a peripheral with micro B plug into a phone with micro B socket the ID line link will be inside the peripheral. The phone will automatically switch to sourcing power for your peripheral without you needing to think about it. The problem arises when adapting to the type C connector. Peripherals with a C connector also have a method of instructing the phone to supply power but it is a different standard. It only works when the peripheral is plugged into a phone that has a type C socket. Hence when plugging into micro B the adaptor has to take over the task of instructing the phone to source the power and you have to make sure you have the right adaptor for the task in hand.

I purchase this in order to connect my phone to a DAC so I could stream music through the Hi Fi. It allowed me to connect my phone with a micro usb connection to the usb c input cable. It is useful as a data connection, I am not sure it could be used to charge a phone. This requires a different type of adaptor.A mistake I made so that I now have both types of connector. Some usb connection seem to be a bit of a minefield, micro usb in particular.

For the ONLY purpose i bought it for, it performs as expected.That is to connect my FLIR one PRO USB C to my ageing Samsung tablet with Micro USB.For THAT purpose it works perfectley and i have no hesitation is recommending it.Most of the - reviews will be from people who's device does NOT support OTG.

The adapter can be bent very easily when it is plugged into a phone. When it bends the connection to the phone is broken. The adapter easily falls out of the phone. It is completely unfit for its purpose.

The camera works as intended and gives insight to how temperature in a room works.

Works perfectly with my FLIR ONE camera (USB-C) and my rather old phone (micro USB) - which required a USB-C socket to micro USB plug OTG to connect. All woks perfectly.

Great little connector did what we needed it to.
